We dined as a group and had a set menu which gave us a plethora of different flavours and textures of meals with a Mediterranean influence. Great service and a great ambiance with quirky furnishings and lights. Not the cheapest place, but great for a pecial occasion.

We were looking for something a little different and got it here. Tasty sharing food with a plate of mixed sides to share. Great service. Quirky restaurant with a great atmosphere and great staff.

A real quirky restaurant in terms of food and décor. The food is different from anywhere else I have visited - middle eastern, perhaps a Turkish influence. Different - YES. But absolutely delicious. The décor is unusual insofar as I don't think there are 2 chairs or tables the same - and the lights and other fittings are made out... More

I can't decide which was better - the good or the service! Loved the idea of being given specific sides which were vegetarian, and then being able to choose your own protein source. The 4 of us had had a full on day and weren't too hungry, so managed just fine with the sides and the haloumi and sabbich proteins... More

We dined here as a family and loved the experience. The food was delicious. Whilst the dishes are seemingly simple there are many flavors and textures to enjoy. There are options for meat lovers and vegetarians. It was probably more expensive than we'd budgeted for however we didn't regret the choice. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Thanks for... My first Ima staple was the soup they served from the cafe in Shortland Street and I have picked up more favorites for lunch over the years. My first dinner was a very happy experience, starting with a generous meze offering great flavours, followed by another interesting collection of vegetables and rice, served with beautifully cooked steak. The menu isn't... More

I wrote a long version but lost it due to dead battery. Long story short, we went here for company Xmas lunch. Food is OK, but not special. Service was pretty terrible partly because of under-staffing and partly because of being too cool for school. I mean, have you heard of any restaurant that weren't into asking for more drinks?... My wife and I ate at Ima Cuisine last night. We wandered in not knowing what kind of cuisine to expect and were very pleasantly surprised: the sharing concept is not new, but the simplicity of the menu was refreshing. Normally, I end up not choosing what I want to eat, but crossing out what I DON'T want, thereby ending... More

I have been here a few times before but always with others however on this occasion I brought my wife. I had given her the Ima Cuisine cook book recently as a birthday gift and this had heightened her interest - being an enthusiastic cook herself. We ordered the Herby Prawns and Brik for entree - sadly the Brik was... More

Fort Street, Auckland and easy to find in a Street with many eateries, Ima is a treat. The venue is spacious, simple with wooden tables and seats outside for sunny mornings and balmy evenings. The setting is low key and simply. The food makes up for an lack of ambience. I've eaten here twice. The first time I had the... More

Middle Eastern inspired breakfast, lunch and a family-style sharing dinner. Cooking has always been the focus of my life, I've been a cook since my early teens. However when I left Israel to study in the UK, it really dawned on me just how important good food is - how great food can lift your spirit and make you happy, and bad food can bring you down. I came to NZ from Israel in late 1997 with two little girls and pregnant with the third. The food I love was very hard to find and I missed it terribly, and so I opened the Lunch Box. Ima is my second venture in Auckland. Ima (pronounced EE-Mah) means mother in Hebrew. My food is simple, honest, healthy and nurturing, like mum's food (providing she is a great cook). At Ima the atmosphere is warm and casual. At Ima the atmosphere is warm and casual, we hope our guests feel immediately comfortable and at home. We invite you to enjoy our food - made with love and the finest ingredients - we know it will make you happy! - Yael Shochat, Owner
