The bar is very dark and has a cool well in the middle of the floor. The barman was rude asked us what we wanted to drink then buggered off to have a conversation with another barman. We asked for menus which looked like they...More

this is a great local pub with a great menu. I had fish and chips and my wife had the bacon cheese burger, the food was all cooked well and with great presentation.

Our accommodation in Auckland was within close walking distance of this venue and recommended by our hotel. We had a drink before dinner. Good atmosphere and a busy local bar scene. Dinner was average and the noise in the venue was so loud we couldn't...More

We (a group of 8) called in for a drink after seeing a matinee show at the Civic Theatre, It was a really nice place to drink and talk. Fascinating piece of Auckland history viewing the old well through a glass plate in the floor.

A nice piece of Auckland history still around. This former horse stable with the water well still in the stable is now one of Aucklands known pubs. A place where the professional suit worker and the hard working yellow vest wearing pros mix and mingle!...More

The good - the selection of beers is first class, chilled pints & very pfriendly service with a smile. The bad - the food, it tasted like everything was thrown into one fryer & cooked together in old oil. An impromptu blind taste test between...More

Good bar in city centre with good variety of beers. Food is good as well, service is slow and bar staff seems to dream all night.

We spotted the Bluestone Room while making our way back uphill to our hotel, so called inform beer each. The staff were friendly and the venue welcoming so we stayed for dinner. My husband had the Steak, Egg and Chips served on a bed of...More

We're glad your impromptu visit left a good impression which made you want to come back. It's just a shame we couldn't fit you in again. We do apologise but it does occasionally happen and we hope we will see you again.
