For a 1 hat restuarant, I was expecting a memorable evening. Very attractively set out and wonderfully attentive staff. We went on a Monday night and the place was quite full. The food was a bit disappointing for a place with one hat. We ordered the anti pasta plate which did not excited. Various cold meats, a bowl with pate... More

We had heard goods things about this restaurant so chose it for an anniversary dinner. The dining area is quite large with dark shaded walls and dim lighting. Tables have sufficient space between them so privacy is preserved. The good news that the food is good as indeed it should be with prices being at the higher end of the... More

We picked this place as you could walk there from the CBD hotel. It is a downstairs and has a nice outdoor area for snacks. Cecconis is a huge restaurant but it has a warm feel about it. The staff are ultra-friendly and efficient. Friday night was filled with all ages. Tables are nicely spread apart and lighting is dim.... More

Cecconi's never fails to impress, it's reliability is what makes it such a perfect choice for casual or special occasion dining. We shared a table mid week with friends and enjoyed a delicious meal - we ordered several share plates for entrees including Arancini, seared scallops (the MOST amazing scallops ever!) and tuna, calamari fritti & fresh oysters - all... Visited here as a group of four and loved the ambience, the attentive service and the delicious food. Everything we ordered was fresh and tasted fantastic. We asked for advice about wines to go with the food and were very happy with the choices provided in terms of taste and value. My husband is in a wheelchair and the staff... More

Our overall experience was very good, and our teen/tween girls were treated very well by our extremely competent waitress. It did feel very strange to be in an Italian restaurant and served by a woman with a strong British accent however! On our many previous visits, the waitstaff have all been Italian, and this has really enhanced the meal. We... More

This is my third time to this gem of a place along Flinders Lane. I never get tired of their Cotoleta. They make the boned-in version - the dish is very well executed. The veal sits on a bed of salad - ensuring a well balanced meal. Other than those in Milan, this is a very good rendition of this... More

Dined on a Saturday night for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We were not disappointed and left very satisfied. Service was exceptional - very professional yet relaxed and helpful. We felt very looked after throughout the evening but the staff were not intrusive in any way. This can be a tough one to get right, but they nailed it. The... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
