Restaurant appeared quite full, but has 3 small floors. Some staff were friendly, ones that appeared in charge seemed happy to take your money & get rid of you. Pricing was average, meals were OK nothing fabulous.

We went here for dinner before a show. Very busy restaurant at service was good. Unfortunately the food was okay but nothing special. We would rather try another place next time.

Was there on a very busy night but the food was exceptional and staff very friendly. Maybe not the place for a quiet romantic meal but very good value.

Had an early meal prior to seeing a show, got a window seat which provided a great view of the passing parade. Meals were typical of old style Chinese, generous portions, tasty but not spectacular.

Went with family and friends for lunch, we heard this place had good dumplings and also catered well for vegetarians/vegans. There was one kind of dumplings (with 3 different fillings). We tried all of them. The steamed chicken ones were mooshy and fairly tasteless, the pan fried pork ones were OK and the steamed veggie ones were rubbery. Have had... More

We had dinner here recently with family and all of us enjoyed the experience. The staff were friendly and attentive, the menu was a wide range of Chinese options and the atmosphere was simple but enjoyable. The food we had from the dumplings to the sizzling Mongolian beef and the fried rice was delicious and there was certainly enough in... More

Its ok. Service was good but in the end it was your run of the mill Chinese. Liked the pan fried pork dumplings but the other dishes didnt win me over.

I loved this restaurant. The service could have been a bit faster and more organised but it was worth the wait. We just order entrées but they were amazing! Pork belly on toast and fried tofu with sweet chilli lime sauce. It was very different especially the pickled cucumbers in the tofu dressing. The pork belly was awesome. The cocktail... More

We grabbed a quick lunch here and the food was good and reasonably priced. A highlight was the salt and pepper calamari, we really liked that.

I had a very satisfying lunch here. I had chicken satay, "special" fried rice and a banana fritter. The food tasted excellent and the banana fritter was very very good indeed. I was also impressed by the special fried rice which consisted of many ingredients and not so oily, at though it had been char grilled the traditional way with... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
