We both had the fish special which was delicious - together with a bottle of inexpensive Pinot Grigio. Desert was apple strudel and ice cream - also delicious. The ambience at Morgan's is great for a business lunch, and the service good. Meals and wine are reasonably priced.

Walked along Collins Street a few times during our stay and didn't realize it was there. The lunch menu is affordable with quite some choices, and the portion was big! We ordered a steak sandwich ($18.5), a chicken and shredded cabbage salad ($17.5), and a seafood stew ($22.5). The three of us could only finish the salad and most of... More

Sitting down in elegant polished tables and chairs made me feel really special .The Minestrone was served with car-grilled bread. It was absolutely delicious .The portion sizes are huge..The menu has a Mediterranean twist to it .The coffee is delicious too.

Apart from the superb hot chocolate (made perfectly for me!), the rest of breakfast was nothing to write home about. It was perfectly adequate but we had, and saw, better breakfast many other places that didn't involve trudging up Collins St in the freezing weather! The prices were reasonable, the artwork lovely and the stained glass outside the window spectacular... More

It's hard to tell the name of this place as there is really no signage whatsoever - but the menu says it's Morgan's at 401. There's a really lovely range of food is available here for lunch. There are pre-packed sandwiches but also baguettes, rolls, wraps - all brimming with beautiful fresh and colourful ingredients - yum.

This place is a hidden gem. Quiet, discreet & with distinguished old school charm. I frequented this establishment, in the morning, for a few months this year. The decor is from a past era, where real contacts were made face to face, pre-facebook. It's reserved, establishment. The coffee is really good, especially the Flat Whites. They often have a breakfast... More

Visited yesterday morning as we were intrigued by the unusual look of the place.I ordered the big breakfast - superb value at just over $15 including a coffee of your choice, and my partner ordered a bacon and egg wrap. When the food arrived it was beautifully presented and the 'Big Breakfast' certainly was big! Sadly the wrap came with... More

Only ate at this restaurant for Breakfast for two days but was very pleased with the surroundings, price and quality of food.I had the Big breakfast for one meal which was excellent (good sausage!!!) and the crushed avocado on sour bread with cous cous for the other breakfast (also attractively served and tasty). My wife had the porridge with the... More

Wonderful. In a gallery setting, surrounded by wonerful paintings and statues. We had a truly great breakfast, simple but great. Egg, cheese, bacon muffin with hollandaise sauce, and the same with tomato on toast. All this and four pots of Earl Grey tea for $24! Go for it!

Around thre or four time each year I manage to visit this ecclectic restaurant come board room style venue. Although you might spend time checking out the enormous range of art work, ceramics and collection of memorabilia, the food presented is worth every penny. It is great value for the money and I would recommend taking interstate and overseas visitors... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
