Quick early dinner before a show at my favourite restaurant in Chinatown. $42 for 2 people with a soft drink each, beautiful dumplings, quick, hot and tasty as always. Can not recommend the chilli and peanut dumplings enough.. think it’s number 15 or B15..

After having looked at a few placea to eat lunch in Chinatown, we ended up choosing here, for one reason it looked popular when we were looking due ro the amount of people that were there. The food was good. The service was reasonably quick. If one is looking for a normal menu, they didn't have one, was told by the one waitress, to scan the bar code on the we sat, then look through the menu and then order vi a smart phone. It was reasonable but a little pricey and serves could have been a little bigger. Worthwhile to try just once.

Perfectly named!
The signature steamed pork bao buns are the best I’ve ever tasted- that broth ... to die for. Also had pan fried dumplings which were amazing. Very happy with the pricing considering the quality. Must visit.

Have dined her before a few times a couple of years ago, and our dinner choices were excellent.
This time we ordered Salt and Pepper Squid, Stir fried string bean and minced pork, Pork and Prawn Wonton soup, Pork and Prawn wontons in chilli oil with peanuts, and finally Deep Fried Chicken wings with dried chilli.
The first four selections were very good, but the Chicken wings were a disaster.
Out came what appeared to be a very large serving, but 80% was dried chillies. There were around 16 small pieces of chicken on bones. Unfortunately what they have done is chopped up the wings into small pieces, so the idea of picking up a whole wing and eating the meat was not possible. At $26.80 for this dish, it was simply not worth it. A lot of effort required to extract a very small amount of chicken and a huge plate of dry chilli left over afterwards.
I should have stuck with the Mongolian lamb that I had two years ago.
When we arrived we had to scan in for COVID tracing, no problem there, but when we sat down the waitress asked us to scan the code on the table. Lost in translation she forgot to mention that this code was different and it would open a menu on your phone to order, rather than giving you a hard copy menu.

We were walking down Chinatown around 3pm and were looking for something to eat. We did hear about the Juicy Bao and decided to give it a try. Most of the restaurants were closed for their mid-afternoon break and thankfully, Juicy Bao was opened. However, It was a disappointment as the meal was only average. The dumplings had a strong smell of the bamboo shoot. It was an expensive meal and certainly not worth the type of quality we were getting. We requested for some ginger and vinegar sauce and was told that we had to pay for it.

We were in Chinatown precinct looking for a restaurant for lunch. We decided to try at this restaurant as the menu has vegetarin dumpling options.
There is a glass section at the front entrance where you can see the staff making dumpling.
We ordered
: steamed vegetarian xia long bao (aka vegetarian soup dumpling)
: vegetarian & mushroom bun
It was my 1st time finding veg xio long bao & i was happy it tasted juicy with generous filling. I ate it together with sherred ginger, vinegar & chili oil. We enjoyed this dish very much.
However the vegetarian & mushroom bun were below average. The filling was too thin & tasted bland. I had to eat the bun with chili oil which is the saviour.
Our food was served promptly, service is very basic, miminum interaction with customers.
Although it was not busy during thursday lunch, staff remained at the back of restaurant and only came out when serving food or greeting incoming customers. We had to wave each time we wanted their service.
Overall it was a simple & no fuss meal.
Will i visit again ? Not sure

Yummy food, good service at a reasonable price.
Liked the ordering process, allowed food and drinks to arrive quickly.
Dumplings being prepared in the front window makes the place even more appealing.
Would do it again.

The food was very good. The place was clean. Service was good. What more do you need for a quick feed.
I liked the hot and sour soup, the rice and the stew meat was pretty good.
I did not really like the automated ordering. I prefer having someone to ask.

A lovely reasonably priced Chinese restaurant. Some of the menu we hadn't seen before. Gorgeous dumplings and salt and pepper squid. Great meal with the kids stuffed ourselves silly with four for under $90. Forgot to take many photos as the food was devoured too quickly. Thumbs up all around.

This was my third visit and the food is still amazing! Everything is fresh and delicious. You don’t go to this restaurant for service, you go here for the food.
I will say that it was a shock to see some of the pieces have increased so much but still worthwhile and still relatively cheap for Melbourne.

Worst service i have ever experienced.
The manager's attitude to me was unacceptable and hostile. He thinks everyone is Chinese and has no respect for other Asian nationality thus he spoke in Chinese straight away upon seeing my face despite I'm not Chinese.
He clearly does not care about customer's experiences and he would jump in your mouth to prove that you are in the wrong.
He would make you pay twice if there's a "pending" on your transaction, he said "it will be cancelled".
He will not apologize even once!
He will only care that you pay!

The dumplings here are to die for! Yes it is a little crammed, yes they don’t wait on you hand and foot but that’s not the type of place it is! It’s all about the authentic food and it is fantastic. The bao is better than anywhere I have eaten, especially the pan fried bao. Super affordable food that is delicious!

Pre theatre meal, quick service. Good selection of meals. The food was well presented. It was obviously a place for after work gatherings so was very boisterous. Good food price commensurate

Simple but nice place in Chinatown with a good variety of standard dishes (mostly, dumplings). Nice to see ladies preparing dumplings at the entrance. Good service (they provide wifi free access to order online, which is convenient for foreign tourists).

Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
