I normally consult trip advisor before choosing a restaurant but didn't this time so I was not sure what to expect. I wasn't disappointed. Great menu, excellent service and reasonable prices. Yes I can verify that the reviews about this restaurant are accurate. Can recommend.

Stopped for a relaxed lunch - wide ranging menu good Szechuan and Shanghai options all at reasonable prices. Ambience a bit ordinary

A busy restaurant that offers some traditional Chinese food in a fast paced, quick turn around eatery. This atmosphere is part of its charm. A must visit.

I remembered this Restaurant from over ten years ago, when a French colleague of mine took me out in my very first night in Australia....it was so good that after so many years I invited my PhD student, who is celiac, to dinner at Spicy Fish. First of all, STAFF IS FANTASTIC. They explained extremely well all ingredients, warned about... More

This place delivers large serves of deliciously spicy food, with service that is a cut above the usual wham-bam style of less formal Chinese restaurants like this one. We shared dry chicken with chili, spicy tofu, and Chinese broccoli with mushrooms, and we each had rice and two beers. All of this came to $93. The servers were friendly and... More

We had tried to get into another restaurant in Chinatown the night before and they were full. They recommended Spicy Fish - we did not go there that night but did the following day for lunch. The restaurant is well presented and the staff friendly. The menu is long so we ended up focusing on the chef's specials. The pick... More

Can't complain. Friendly, fast service, and food was delicious! Dumplings were perfect, and the Chilli prawns packed just the right amount of punch

Disappointed. I am traveling on holiday, from New York City where my partner and I frequently eat Chinese in the LES and Flushing for some decent restaurants that we love. Expecting similar or better, we received dishes (eggplant and chicken) loaded with grease. Not just covered but actually soaking in soup of grease, lacking flavor and spice. After 2-3 bites... More

Came here for a quick meal before a night final for the AFL. Food was good, spicy and tasty. Service was a bit off hand but they were busy. If you like chilli meals, here is good

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
