This was so good I returned twice in one day. Delicious light nutrient dense Japanese. The staff were wonderful, warm and explanatory. It was very memorable.

As my daughter is coeliac - the gluten free menu is very much appreciated. In fact when my daughter has a choice for lunch in the city it is always here! She loves the miso soup and also normally has some sushi too.. The only thing I think the menu lacks is a big, tasty salad - especially on these... More

Day trip to Melbourne to the John Olsen Art exhibition at NGV. Decided to gave a light japanese lunch at Chocolate Buddha. Both of us had the Lunch tray - one with Miso Pork Belly and the other with Eggplant. Both delicious and tremendous value with salad, broccoli with sesame dressing, salmon sashimi, miso soup, and steamed rice. Then on... More

We love this place, the food is just delicious with beautiful presentation and the portions are large. We have visited numerous times and each time it has surpassed our expectations. The greeter/server has a heart of pure joy and always connects with customers on such a personal level you feel like you are leaving as friends. It really is a... More

Wondering around fed square on a hot Melbourne day looking for somewhere cool that wasn't burgers or pizza and stumbled on this gem. Excellent food and service. There were 5 of us so we tried a few different dishes, the only negative was the taste and freshness of the salads, everything else was delicious.

We arrived late, received excellent service and food, were made to feel welcome and not rushed. Very reasonable prices also.

As we know this is a busy restaurant we had booked in advance and asked for an outside table since our dog was with us. On arrival we were greeted and seated in no time flat and had drinks and menus - even a bowl of water for the pooch ! Nice touch. The guy looking after us was fantastic... More

We chose this place because of its position at Federation Square so that we could see the cricket on the big screen. Thankfully we did as the food was fantastic. The waitress was very friendly and made a wonderful wine suggestion - Panorama from the Mornington Peninsula. We shared the Korean chicken, soft shell crab and dumplings before venturing onto... I came here with some family and friends for lunch and it was wonderful. It was a very popular place with most seats filled and delicious food! The orders arrived very quickly and it was timed perfectly.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
