We were a tad disappointed..had heard good things, but our experience was different.. They were busy - a Friday night...chef was definitely over-extended...non the less, the food was good. The wait staff, however, were very poor...Waited 'forever' for a drink; for our order to be taken; for a water jug to be placed whilst waiting for drinks. There were enough... More

Food on the floor, very grotty, after nearly 2 hours waiting to be served a sub-standard waterly meal with no taste- and we PRE-ORDERED! Had to ask for a knife and fork to cut Japenese beef! Should have gone to Maccas! When we left none of the other tables had been served which means a 3 hour wait at least... More

Food was nice, but after nearly two hours had to ASK for the remaining meal, had to call waitress over five times for drinks (they were standing there polishing glasses), never once came near us to see if all was ok, overall disappointed from LACK of service, wont go back.

We came on a Groupon voucher which was great value and food was pretty good, HOWEVER the lack of service really let us and themselves down. ALL white wine on the menu for a bottle was $42... WT??? No range in prices. Very very odd that they didn't offer wine from say $25 to $50. They serve CLEAN SKINS by... More

Went to Bentoya using a Groupon banquet voucher for two. I can only fault the amount of food that came! was stuffed and plates were still coming out :) The service was good, great location and the food very tasty. Have been before and will be back again. enjoy

Unless you are there for a Bento box (that's not a recommendation) don't waste your time trying to do lunch. We arrived at 12 noon, presented our Groupon Voucher and settled in at a pleasant window table for what we hoped would be an enjoyable 9 course banquet, eagerly anticipated; it's almost a 4 hour round trip from home to... We tried nine course banquet, it was very good, good quality food and really full. A lot of flavor from each dish and we'll presentation. The first dish is edamame and it's a lot so that we can eat it til the last course. The fried dumplings are good, and other menu such as fish tofu pot, beef, fried pork... More

We first came here around 2 years ago on one of those voucher deals. I remember the banquet was huge & we were really full at the end of it. This time round, my friend organised a get together. My partner & I shared the following dishes & below is my rating: - gyoza: 3/5 - sashimi carpaccio: 1/5 -... More

How pleased were we when our 9-course unfolded before our eyes! Each course was beautifully cooked, well presented and delicious to taste. Starting with the most generous bowl of edamame I've ever been presented, sashimi carpaccio followed, then crumbed croquettes, takoyaki balls, fish hotpot in miso , tonkatsu and a generous serve of wafu steal for us both. At this... More

Three of us had the set meal for $30 a head which included a glass of wine or juice. The sashimi was plentiful and excellent quality, and the rest of the dishes were very good with plenty of variety. Great value with attentive service.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
