Nestled down Oliver Lane off one end of Flinders Lane is Coda. Unless you get there very early and get a seat at the bar you will need to book. I booked to coincide with a visit to Melbourne and even 2 months out had to go for the 6 o'clock seating, the downside of this is that you do... More

My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday for lunch when visiting Melbourne from Sydney. We picked this restaurant because of the glowing reviews on Tripadvisor, we were not disappointed. The food was incredible. It was up there with the best meal i have ever had. The waitstaff were very attentive, the atmosphere and decor were lovely. The... More

5 of us had a lovely Sunday lunch at Coda. We chose to have the chefs selection at the recommendation of the waitress and weren't disappointed. We let them know our dietary requirements which was no issue and sat back and let the staff do the work. The food is classed as Asian fusion and would say this is an... More

Ate dinner here this week. The welcome was warm, the arrival drinks excellent and then allowing the staff to pick our menu for sharing turned out to be a very smart move. A really excellent experience and highly recommended.

dined her with family and friends. protocol was a bit different from other restaurants, with starters, nibbles and main courses. overall the food was reasonable, but verging on the pretentious.

Coda is an Asian fusion restaurant. The dishes were delightful. The spicy calamari was superb with a fabulous presentation. However one does need lots of water not wine to regain the taste buds. Steak tartare was rare. The only issue was the Beechworth Chardonnay was very cold. It needed to be warmed to enhance the nose

We dined at Coda based on positive Trip Advisor reviews and were very impresses. The room(s) are not large and have all hard surfaces so the noise level took a little getting used to. The menus is very "aggressive" and, to us at least, unusual. Our server tried to explain the myriad of dishes and, after being a bit overwhelmed,... More

We went to Coda on a Tuesday night, the waiter was lovely really friendly and helpful. The food was alright, tasty and fresh but could have been more flavorsome. For the price that you pay you would have been better going to chin chin. A nice meal overall.

The place had a good feel - although noisy before food started arriving at the tables surrounding us. The food was delicious and virtually unfaultable in terms of taste. There is, however, no relationship to Vietnamese food or flavours - do not come looking for Vietnamese inspired food flavours. Our waiter was disinterested and generally unhelpful. We were wanting rough... More

Description
Upon opening our doors in 2009, we were thrilled to receive the The Age Good Food Guide's 'HatAward' and have maintained it ever since. Complementing these achievements, we are very proud of Head Sommelier, Travis Howe, who not only won Sommelier of the Year but also picked up the 2013 Wine List of the Year. Nestled in one of Melbourne's iconic laneways (basement Oliver Lane, and Flinders Lane), Coda is located in the busiest and most dynamic culinary precinct the city has to offer. A stone's throw away from the Yarra River, Flinders Street station and Federation Square, the restaurant enjoys hosting a diverse group of diners from frequenting locals who live and work on its doorstep to diners from all over the globe. Upon entering the restaurant you will be greeted by a member of our friendly team headed by Mykal and Kate Bartholomew and Executive Chef Adam D'Sylva. The trio has assembled a dedicated team with highly sought-after experience from many international and Melbourne-based restaurants. Coda's relaxed environment provides a versatile setting for a range of engagements. Whatever your occasion - from a quick pre-football meal, to a long Sunday lunch, business dining or a cosy seat for an anniversary - we look forward to your visit. While bookings are highly recommended, patrons without a reservation can enjoy the full menu at the bar.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
