The food was lovely & staff friendly. However we had the unfortunate experience of sharing upstairs space with a large function. 4 weeks after our written complaint (which was requested on the evening) an answer - they told the large group that they would have...More

We had a dinner here which was so delicious, light and fresh. We shared five spiced pork and shitake siu mai with black vinegar dressing, duck spring rolls and mixed mushroom san choi bao with plum sauce and crispy kai laan for starters. We then...More

Loved the ambience and the food. Every dish was unique in it's way and served with lot of love and warmth. Loved the plating of the dishes too. The staff seemed passionate about what they are serving and how. Overall, was a very good experience...More

Liked the atmosphere, busy but cosy. A great fusion of Asian and Australian cuisine. Could of course get better Chinese food from a Chinese restaurant or Cha Chan Teng... but this is the middle of both worlds. Must try the beef and winglets!

Not great. Sadly, we have eaten at such excellent restaurants in Melbourne this weekend, including the Conservatory yesterday for a bottomless brunch, and gingerboy really didn’t stack up. Spend your $70 elsewhere.

Second time back and another lovely meal. While there was a hiccup with our order, the way the staff addressed it was with grace - to the point where it didn't overshadow the night. Always an incredibly busy place but food arrives in a timely...More

Haven’t been here for a while but it is so good to be back. Flying solo as my wife is intestate so I got to eat all the things my wife doesn’t like like the pork bun and dumplings. The food is excellent here, I...More

The menu has a great selection of slightly unusual but very intriguing Asian fusion dishes (ham hock pancakes, wagyu in la lot, slow cooked beef cheek tamarind and black bean caramel!). It has an emphasis on shared dishes so it’s perhaps not quite ideal for...More

Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place
to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place
simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude
a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration

Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes
such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your
money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving

If you are looking for a stylish party that is around the food and as long as the restaurant can accommodate your party then yes, it should be a great place to celebrate. Best wishes.

The dining experience at Gingerboy is centered on a modern Australian adaptation of the Asian hawker-style street market food. The restaurant's hustle and bustle, its fast-paced, youthful and dynamic environment is influenced not only by the dining culture of Southeast Asia but also by buzzing Asian marketplaces and an Asian sense of colour and fun.
