It’s great to see Movida pumping along on a Sunday night, as we rang on the off chance just walking nearby. Hosier Lane is still graffiti covered - but these days it’s institutionalised as a tourist attraction. And since Movida arrived here, it’s been joined...More

Expectations were high and we were not disappointed. It was so good to try so many different dishes with the tapas. We had no room for dessert....

Can’t fault the service and food at Movida. The basic rule is that they do small size tapas dishes, ideal for sharing. It’s a fantastic way to try lots of different things and also share a meal with friends. It’s not the cheapest Spanish food...More

We arrived without dinner reservations and were lucky enough to get a place at the bar. Not having been here before, the staff carefully explained the menu and made a few recommendations. The Caballa Ahumada (or cold smoked Spanish Mackerel) and the Flor (fried zucchini...More

While there are scores of people viewing the amazing graffiti that lines Hosier Lane, most of them appear to be unaware that this great restaurant is right in the middle of it. Since everything on the menu and the specials all looked great, we asked...More

The meal was delicious and service was good. We had a number of tapas courses -all were good. Zucchini flowers, oysters, nothing disappointed. With 2 bottles of wine the bill was about A$300 for 5 people.

We visited Movida based on a recommendation. We walked past and was asked if we wouldn’t mind waiting an hour for a table. Luckily there is a bar next door and there was street art being done on the lane way so we were happy...More

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air

Hi, as the other travellers have said the menu changes regularly. Best to go online close to the time you book a table and check. Better still, call and talk to the helpful and friendly staff.

When we opened the doors to MoVida in Hosier lane, Melbourne in 2003 no one knew what to expect. Here was this little bar on a graffiti covered cobbled lane near the cathedral serving Spanish tapas and shared plates in a down lit room playing funky tunes. It's the kind of place you can come in for a beer and a jamon croquetta at the bar and then move across to a table and share a plate of slow braised lamb, some patatas a lo pobre and down some seriously good Spanish red wine.
