Through a friend's recommendation, two friends and I went to this outdoor bar trucked away between two buildings. We ordered the antipasto board complete with two selection of cheeses, olives, chilli pickles, cured meat and sweet wafer crackers. Throw in the pulled pork roll with apple & cabbage slaw and mushroom sanga (mushroom and cheese grilled sandwich) and we were... More

My partner and I were in town doing some lane hopping when we walked past this place. We took a double take and thought we would give it a try. Very glad we did. This place is very quirky but that's what makes it stand out. The lane is only 2m wide with a small caravan at the rear which... More

We visited here on a Sunday afternoon. Staff were lovely, sangria wasn't bad and the food was fresh. Cute little quirky bar - chilled atmosphere

Called into this cool little lane way bar while shopping. Great vibe, really nice pulled pork rolls. Washed down with a red. We were only stopping for one drink, but just loved the music and stayed for 2 hrs. well worth a visit.

We literally stumbled across this little gem. We were on the way to an early performance at Regent Theatre & looking for a bite to eat. Although the decor is a little 'weathered' it is after all an outdoor venue, it was appealing enough to take a look at the menu. I had pulled pork in a burger & it... More

We came here for pre drinks so didn't get to try the food. But we will definitely be going back. It's a teeny tiny alley bar, which is what Melbourne does so well. They had a few different can beers I'd never heard of before so that's always fun. Because it's so small it's not too loud or crowded. Perfect... More

Stopped off here for feed on the way back from the football. Great feel - small laneway and open skies. Menu is simple but covers enough of a range. The Ruben toasted sandwich was spot on. Lots of pastrami and sauerkraut, right amount of mustard and nicely toasted. When matched with a hot mulled wine it made the perfect combination... More

Cute laneway atmosphere, playlist a bit too eclectic for me, great broccoli with blue cheese soup, toasted mushroom Sanga, cheese plate, wines, cold beer, & coffee. Good value. Recommended for adults a drink & a light meal. Caters for smokers - ugh.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
