I've had dozens of meals here. Always excellent. Never had a bad meal and the gnocchi are better than I've had elsewhere on the planet over 30yrs of travel. Lovely, beautiful, quiet bistro with excellent food and friendly, attentive staff. Regardless of where I stay I make a point or heading here. Just great.

Love love love! This restaurant never have had a bad or mediocre meal. There scallops are always divine and they often change them. This visit was with pea and chorizo yum. I had the soufflé for main my partner the barramundi cooked to perfection. Oh yes don't forget the the duck pate for starters, the best in town. The restaurant... More

The decor is very Parisian - dark wood, paintings on the ceiling, a typical French poster on the wall. The restaurant is small and cozy. Many people come before a show in the adjacent theatre. Once the show starts, the restaurant gets rather quiet. The young French waiters were absolutely charming and all made sure that we did not have... More

Although there were over 12 of us and spread across two sets of two small tables, I thoroughly enjoyed the evening at Bistrot d'Orsay! I sooooooooo enjoyed my soup and coq au vin! They was really that good!!! But the most amazing memory I have of our evening was the staff. Now, I've been to a few French restaurants around... More

We stopped here for a drink a couple of times as it is right next door to our apartment. The waiter was very good he remembered us and my expresso martini was one of the best I've had!

We were lucky to snag a last minute table on new years eve and the staff apologized profusely to be only able to offer an outside table. Never mind, we got some nice Melbourne new years eve atmosphere and lots of jealous looks and smiles by passers-by, because the plates of food and bottle of wine looked delicious. we had... More

Gorgeous setting love all the dark wood and the cosy European feel. The service is first rate floor staff were impeccable. Lovely to have a good selection of half bottles when ur partner sadly doesn't enjoy a tipple as much as my good self. Mushroom risotto enjoyed by my son was gorgeous and my barramundi cooked to perfection. Been here... More

Very pleasant meal, like stepping into a Parisienne bistro in the heart of Melbourne. Pate, steak frites, chocolate mousse, perfect.

I must say I truly loved my dinner at this restaurant. There were a number of menu items that took my eye, but I ended up selecting the barramundi. The flavours were divine! Glancing at other patron's table, I think you'll find any meal that you order will be of equal praise. Wonderful efficient service, a warm ambiance to the... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
