Been to this place for many years. We had a little break during COVID but went back in store dining. Wow. Fresh, tasty and amazing. Very well priced quality food. We had Wasabi Mayo Prawns, Peko Sausage, Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Chicken Crunch and 5 spice Calamari . All 4-5/5. They are known for their deep fried chicken too.

Our favorite dishes are the Wasabi Prawn ($15), Volcano Pop Chicken ($23) and Staff Meal ($21). Also the Sausage Fried Rice ($20) is a winner. Honey Beef was average and Sweet and Sour Chicken as expected.
Gets very loud as mentioned in other reviews so arrive early as it is small space with many seats so it gets crowded. We arrived at 5:00 PM and it was good however by 6:30 PM it was hard to hear others talk.
BYO fee is $3 for each glass. Import Japanese beers are $9.
Service was attentive and timely.
We will return as Peko Peko is added to our Chinese restaurants favorites list.

Food is OK - home style Taiwanese - lots of deep fried stuff. It’s local. If you want to try the food, go sit in the restaurant or order via a delivery app. Whatever you do don’t order with them direct to pick up. You will be at the back of the queue after in-room diners, Hungry Panda drivers and pretty much everyone else. We waited for the 15 mins they advised before arriving. Then waited another 35 mins outside. And no food. And no refund more’s the point. It was always ‘on the way’. Which it clearly wasn’t.
Hungry. And $40 poorer.

If i could give minus, i will give minus review.
We were having lunch together 4 people, the staff came to us said to be quiet. We were just having conversations and abit laugh. We were not screaming or talking too loud. The other table were also as loud as our table.
This staff ruined our day.
I will not coming back ever to this restaurant.
Not recommended.

Extremely rude when we came for our booking time. Saying we still have to wait and can’t give estimate time to be seated. She was not talking politely rather in a loud angry tone.

Gave the order to the wrong person whom handled it during a covid environment. It’s turned me off my food. Please remember the face of your customers who purchase from you.

Peko Peko in an attempt to make their address less confusing have failed miserably.
The correct address is 1-13 Bank Street, South Melbourne. They could add that it is on the corner of Wells Street, South Melbourne. It definitely isn't in Southbank!
The food is wonderful, we have now been here several times.
For the adventurous, I'd suggest trying the Volcano Spicy POP chicken, it will blow your head away!

We (4) visited this venue on a Saturday for lunch. Pleasant & helpful staff & an interesting menu. The wine list is pretty sparse, but the Chardonnay we had was drinkable. So I would suggest BYO if you are serious about your wines. A great little neighbourhood restaurant.

What a visit and great Taiwanese cuisine with a modern twist. Peko Peko is owned and operated by the in-laws of my good and dear friend from Taiwan. Madam of the house is a very particular chef and demands nothing but the best for her customers. I did not have a chance to read the menu as we were hosted and the food were pre-ordered. The fried rice was memorable. The many dishes of finger food was simply gorgeous. All of them was so good. Good food with great friends is a master formula.

Bookings essential as the place was hopping at 8pm on a Thursday night.
Taiwanese sausage was as authentic as it gets with the taste but the size was a little small for its price.
Their signature dish was definitely the Ma Ma Custard Fried Chicken. Just the right amount of batter for crunch and paired nicely with sweet chilli mayo.
Mince Mince was a different take on the traditional braised mince rice. Flavours were a bit bland and I much prefer traditional Taiwanese versions.
Service was super quick and attentive. We were seated, ordered, and the dishes came within 15 minutes.
Great for: fried chicken, sausage, and a cold beer

South Melbourne
South Melbourne hosts the city’s oldest continuous market, founded in 1867. Rows of neatly arranged fruit, vegetables and flowers splash yellows, greens and reds along the entire perimeter, where the whole neighbourhood gathers for Saturday feasts. Inside the hall, shoppers hover over the mouth-watering displays of delicatessens and specialty food shops. Further in, a bazaar full of giftware, clothing, and kitchen utensils completes the scene. Take a break to walk the wide and shady streets and stroll along the Victorian-era heritage terrace houses. But return to the market in time for some paella, simmering in three large frypans on the footpath and served straight onto your plate.
