Stopped in without a reservation, for an early (5:30pm) single meal and drink. Very cosy and warm with high chair tables at the front for us drop-ins. Ordered pasta's and wine from our friendly server, and service was brisk. As the next hour was consumed with enjoyment of both pasta dishes ( seafood Tagliatelle, beef cheek ragu with linguine) and... More

I love to have wine at this place, there are high tables near the window or in front of fire place, we only had snacks there or pizza but I always enjoy it. My husband is refusing to go here anymore as he wants to go somewhere else now ;-)

Being Italian, I expect Italian restaurants (that have good reviews) to be amazing. Unfortunately, our experience was not. To start with, my cocktail was full of ice. There was hardly any drink in it. Maybe it was because it was Happy Hour. Not so happy after that. Another cocktail - the martini had the vodka possibly waved over the top... More

I visit here regularly and the food, ambience and service is always on par. All food is lovely, the lasagne is very good. Great wine list and well priced

Nice restaurant with fast and friendly service. Menu is not too extensive, but with daily specials options is big enough to give you enough options to choose from. Used to serve one of the best risottos I have ever tried (salmon),which however has recently been taken off the menu and replaced with broad beans/peas risotto that failed to impress. Good... More

This has to be the best Italian restaurant I've been to. The pasta is fresh, and the staff are brilliant. We need more establishments with service like this.

You would think that to make a Bloody Mary it is not rocket science and for a restaurant bar that has quite good reviews how disappointing our drinks were! Also how much can you water down tomato juice? After all it's not that expensive and at $20 per drink I'd expect something more than a transparent loaded with ice watery... More

Something for everyone! We shared 2 main dishes which they provided small plates for without fuss. The only downside I would say is that the drink service was a little slow. We ordered drinks and food at the same time, and the drinks and food arrived at the table around 5 minutes apart. However once we tasted the food that... More

A last minute decision to eat out somewhere on Flinders Lane had us turned away from a few other restaurants here. We got the last available table here and we knew right away that we were in luck. Everything was superb, especially the pizza.

Description
You might have seen us down Flinders Lane, in the historic Swiss House building. It's the red brick building on the corner of Duckboard Place (ACDC Lane). You can walk or tram to a number of theatres, concert and sporting venues from our front door, which means we're actually the perfect stop for drinks and a bite to eat before or after the show/concert/match. Plus, we take bookings which can be hard to find in our neck of the woods. This is our story... Pizza, pasta and mozzarella are our thing. We love having guests over to visit. You can come in off the street or give us a shout beforehand to book a spot. We're very accommodating, and not to blow our own horn, have a certain something something. Oh, and we have one of the most handsome Italian's in Melbourne as our pizza chef. Fact.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
