Had breakfast on the weekend. 20 minute wait for a table. Pretty busy. Small menu and portions. Not much of a hot selection. Food was tasty. Good coffee. Wouldn't go back for breakfast.

It's a GO to place every time we go to Melbourne. The food is sensational. Service great as are the cocktails. The highlights this time were the Pork Head Croquettes and the Fois Gras Parfait. It's just great food, though I always recommend going in early, easier to get a spot, but if you're just one person or a couple... More

Not far from the Windsor Hotel and Parliament Building. Not too crowded fir a week day at 9 am. By all means sit at high stools to what the chef prepare your meal. Menu is non adjustable but who would want to!! Quantity was more than what you could eat for some choices but amazing flavours! Worth a stop for... More

In Melbourne for work, I stopped by for a late lunch. I sat on my own at the bar and was initially a little skeptical about the menu. But every item kept getting better! To start with - the house made sourdough bread is fantastic. We had a glass of prosecco and a grilled dog with prosciutto and rocket. I... More

As we both had milestone birthdays, my wife and I decided to jointly celebrate by inviting more than 40 friends to a dinner at Cumulus. The evening stared with canapes and Champagne followed by a sumptuous dinner accompanied by 3 Australian and 3 overseas wines which I chose from their extensive wine list. The location was in the art gallery... More

Had Sunday breakfast here after initially thinking it'd be a long wait for a table due to the restaurants popularity. Lots of people waiting for a tables, very busy with a small interesting menu. Fantastic staff managed the busy breakfast period and service was smooth. Will be back next time in Melbourne.

What an amazing place to eat, the food here is spectacular. A little fancy and not for everyone, but really tasty well cooked food. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The only problem is that this place gets really busy, I know that's what you get for serving great food, but it can feel a little claustrophobic and is... More

Well, today there was, anyway! I was between films at the Kino's French Film Festival and found much of the rest of Collins Place closed for the Monday of the long weekend. With only an hour, or so, to explore, I figured Flinders Lane might be about the only possibility. Bingo! There was Cumulus Inc, almost full, but with room... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
