We ate there two nights while in Hobart, the hot rock salmon was interesting and very good, the restaurant is mainly seafood and very busy so bookings are essential. Service was good and prices are much the same (if not slightly higher) than the Sydney...CBD prices – unexpected for Hobart.
The two seating arrangement that Hobart restaurants seem to operate is a bit of a turn off for us, as eating at 5.30/6pm or after 8pm seemed to be the main options even when making bookings.More
My husband and I really enjoyed the salmon and Barramundi, it was so fresh and tasty.
The young man that was serving us was very attentive, service was great. Unfortunately i have forgotten his name, but it was only his second shift on 9th April.
Had great service from the moment I arrived. Superb recommendations for food and wine by the staff. Especially the wine, and dessert, we're perfect.
Started with Oysters knowing I wanted something a bit different, not just natural. The jalapeño and cheese, and sesame and ginger...were both good option. Though I do prefer the natural taste more.
The Fish Chowder was very tasty, but a little too rich and thick. I only finished half because I didn't want to spoil the rest of the meal.
The King Prawns were good. And the Chadonnay recomendation was perfect, very good wine.
By the time it came to dessert, I wanted something light, and the Berry Creme Brulee recommended to me was perfect.
Given how much I ate and drank, the bill was very reasonable. Good value for money!👍
After reading so many glowing reviews & being a big seafood fan I was really excited to try this place, however it wasn't quite the incredible experience I'd hoped for.
Pros: fun seafarers theme & decor, friendly staff
Cons: Serving sizes were on the smaller...side and whilst the food was tasty we weren't blown away by it - I had the seafood chowder & found it a little bit bland.More
The external appearance gives no hint of the amazing interior. The nautical theme is a drawcard alone. Staff very welcoming and friendly, food was fantastic. Only downside being the large portion size. Over-ate as did not want to leave any, tasted too good. Very good...selection of beverages to compliment the meal. Reasonably priced.More
We were told to visit Drunken Admiral by a friend, a little apprehensive by the exterior of the venue. As it doesn’t say much about the venue.
Although we were very surprised by the interior.
I could have sat there for a very long time...just looking at the displays! Looks awesome inside!
The food was delicious and fresh - would suggest booking.
We will definitely visit again, and recommend to friendsMore
Our first night in Hobart, literally straight off the plane and into the restaurant (which we had pre-booked). The decor and atmosphere is almost worth experiencing on its own. The smell/aromas of grilled seafood had us salivating when we entered.
We went with the seafood...chowder for entree and grilled market fish for mains. The chowder was delicious-rich in seafood flavours-perfect starter. The mains were disappointing, the fish was fresh and I appreciated the Moroccan spice on my mirror dory but my partner’s snapper had about half a dozen bones in, which for $36 a plate, I would have expected they would have taken more care. The accompanying green salad was underwhelming.
We mentioned the bones in the fish when we left and got the response that they try but sometimes they miss a few.
Maybe we should have gone with hot rock salmon or the yachties mixed grill both of which looked and smelt amazing.More
This is a themed restaurant that wants you in and out but the food is good and the service friendly and prompt. The fish is fresh, well cooked and servings generous. It is very much seafood based, but has one steak and one chicken dish.
