Craving for some local food while in Tasmania and stumbled upon this no fuss cafe serving Malaysian food. Authentic sambal and beef rendang, wish the rice has more coconut fragrance tho. Price very reasonable and will come again for my dose of Malaysian local food.

Ordered a jumbo nasi lemak for 2 to share. The serving was not really 'jumbo' but it comes with 2 meats - beef rendang and 2 fried drumlets. They allow BYO - FOC/no corkage. The beef was well cooked, tasty. Fried chicken was crispy though a little on the bland side. The rice could be more fragrant but this is... More

We had beef rendang and vegetarian satay noodles. The service was friendly and fast, food plentiful and tasty, and price was very reasonable - $25 for two including pot of Jasmine tea.

The dumplings were exceptionally Amazing. They are good value and the service was amazing. The small number of staff are very kind to me! And they are always at your service and help. Good location and close to the cinema. You're able to walk over to the fridge and get your own water. And all drinks are well priced (the... More

I was craving a spicy soup and saw this place and thought why not - did not have high expectations. Ordered the prawn mee soup (Har Mee) - and it was decent. Not as good as you get in Malaysia but better than many other places trying to do "Malaysian" food - think watery laksa. I would return for sure.

Honestly, I wouldn't have thought of Sawak as a choice for lunch...my friend suggested it and thanks to her I had a great lunch. Friendly, reasonably priced, quality food. What more could you want? Well...an owner who takes out a vegetable that you don't eat from the dish! Loved it for a casual meal experience.

We were very pleased with the quality and value of our meals at Sawak Cafe. Friendly service, great food, great value. Portion sizes were perfect- not oversized, but more than satisfactory. Focus is clearly on quality. Highly recommend!

We visited this restaurant 2 times in whilst visiting Hobart. Quick service and fantastic food. whilst sitting there i could see the reviews and awards from TripAdvisor on their wall agreeing with what my thoughts were. The place was very popular with locals popping in for take away and tables filled up quickly. Staff were friendly. You gave your order... More

It's a very basic fit out but what it lacks in appearance they put into their food. Each dish full of flavour and generous portions. Three of us had numerous serves and all good- I don't think it would matter what you chose, it'd be tasty.

Had trouble getting a reservation at Urban Greek or Shamrock, so our friends and us decided to introduce ourselves to Malaysian food at Sawak. Our party of 4 ordered Nasi Lemak with Sambal Squid, Nasi Lemak with Sambal Fish, Spicy Black Bean Rice, and Satay Noodle with Chicken. This is a very casual Asian diner; order at the register and...
