Absolutely delicious food, served by beautiful friendly people at a very very fair price! I had the fish curry twice in four days, it was so good and my friends all had different dishes and were full of praise for the food they consumed. If there was a Sawak nearby, I would definitely visit weekly!

After reading other reviews, we were looking forward to eating here, but were dissapointed. The food was average. The service was good and friendly. We only waited a few minutes before a table was available. Unfortunately we were left wondering why all the great reviews??

We had chicken curry, beef rendang, vegetable laksa, satay chicken noodle, Singapore mee hoon and roti canai. All were amazing! We will be coming back.

We had dumplings, combo laksa and chicken nasi lemak - all scrumptious! Fast and friendly service as well.

We stumbled on Sawak for lunch one day and were very pleased we did, especially as it closed for the post-Christmas period and we didn't have the chance to return for dinner as intended. We both had noodle, curry based soup. Very tasty, spicy and with access to additional chilli if required. I eat gluten free and they were able... More

We stumbled across here on Boxing Day as it was close to our accommodation. It's not a huge spot and it's a basic fitout but the food and service was great. They were out of a few items from the menu, we chose the beef rendang, satay chicken fried rice, roti and veg spring rolls. The standout was the rendang,... More

Having returned to Hobart at the weekend from a five week stay in Singapore and Panang I went looking for a place that would give me the same delicious taste of the food I enjoyed so much overseas. Sawak hit the spot exactly. My nasi lamak with beef randang was just what I needed. Add fast, friendly and effective service,... More

I had just arrived in Hobart and was wandering the central city streets in search of a soothing Asian soup when I discovered Sawak. Sawak is a reasonably priced Malaysian restaurant in the centre of Hobart. I had the Maylasian Har Mee soup for $13 and a free chilled bottle of water. Sawak is clean and light and the staff... We discovered Sawak Cafe on our last day in Hobart - a real shame, since we ony got to eat there twice! Service quick and friendly, prices are cheap, portions are generous, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious, with authentic flavours. Seating is very limited, and twas a full house both times we ate there. Highy recommended.

Absolutely loved the food here. I went back there 3 times throughout my 6 days stay in Hobart. Being a Singaporean, I'm picky with my asian food, but they definitely startled me with how good their food was! Didn't think I would be able to find something so authentic in Hobart.
