About
**Tako will be closed from 6 May 2019 reopening 20 September 2019.** At TAKO it’s all about sharing. Experience a taste of regional cuisine from the four corners of Mexico – from the coastal ceviche, to the Oaxaca mole, the Mayan cuisine of the Yucatán Peninsula and the very popular national dish, the taco. TAKO is not a spelling mistake, it makes reference to the subtle Japanese and Korean influences you’ll find in their menu. Delicioso!

One of the places in Hamilton Island that are riddled with very young children so it’s noisy and a little chaotic. Not complaining about the kids but for couples I’d suggest going for a later sitting. The restaurant is nice and staff are great. When...it’s very humid it’s so hot and the staff sweat profusely as there is no air-con. The vegetable enchilada was really nice as was the Halloumi and herb Quesadillas and the Chorizo Quesadillas. Great place something casual.More

Good food, cold beer, friendly helpful staff. Busy the night we went, and they don't seem to take bookings. Anyway, 7 of us turned up and a table was created in about 5 minutes. None of our party had any complaints about the food, but...a little airco would have been a nice touch. No hesitation in recommending this for moderately priced eats.More

The lamb and squash salad are a must. So delicious! We also loved the guac and chips and the chicken and vegetarian tacos.

Located just above the pizza place with nice views of the marina, Tako is an open-air restaurant serving Mexican inspired fare. This place was recommended by one of the guys working at the Jet ski place for good casual fare. We stopped by around 6...and walked right in-by 6:45 there was a wait. The menu features lots of dishes designed to share from tacos to quesadilla, salads, empanadas and great drinks. We started with a couple of margaritas made with fresh lime juice and some chips with pico and guac. The guac was flavorful and fresh tasting and the chips seemed house made. We ordered fish tacos (two to an order) and pork carnitas and chorizo quesadilla (more like a big grilled taco) and that with the chips was pllenty for us for dinner. The juicy margaritas were a nice compliment and a great change for us from all the wine we've been enjoying in Australia. Service was pretty good too and the food came out fast-even taking our time a bit www the ordering we were in an out in an hour. This was a nice change of pace.More

We came here for a light dinner when staying on the island. For starters we had the prawn tostado which is supposed to be to share but is just 2 small tostados so if your hungry make sure you order a few. For main we...had the chicken fajitas to share which is a reasonably sized portion with 5 tortillas but you definitely need a starter if your going to share. Food was nice and staff were very friendlyMore

We had a great meal here, it was very popular with people waiting for a table the entire time we were there. The way they served the food though was odd, although it suited us, they just brought the dishes randomly, some starters arrived after...the mains and the food didn't all come at the same time. We'd planned to share everything anyway so it suited us, if we'd planned and wanted to each eat our own meal though the first dishes would have gone cold before the next ones arrived.More

This is what Hamilton Island needs a bit of spice! Great fresh food! Who doesn’t love to graze on Guac and corn chips! I loved the fish tacos! And the family shares where are great hit! 12-17 yo love Quesadillas! Portion size was a little...small.. 2 x taco’s per serving probably could up that to 4 per serving then ordering would be easier? Don’t get me wrong where good but they are mini size soft taco’s,my husband smashed 4 tacos for an entree! This is not a family cheap eat $175 for a family of 5, $19 cocktails, around $20-30 for a main. But your on a holiday right!!??? Seriously I don’t mind as the quality of the food was there. You won’t be disappointed!More

This place was not good. Not only is it overpriced but the portion sizes could feed a mouse. probably not even a mouse. My family ordered two of the “share platters” thinking it would be enough to feed us. Oh how we were wrong. The...Enchiladas was pretty much some rice and beef swimming in sour cream. The only good thing about the place was the free kids meal. Also for a Mexican place there was not much selection on the menu. The prices are ridiculous for what you get and to feed my family of five we probably would of needed to order ten of the share meals. Overall very bad. If you are at Hamilton island save yourself from the torture of going to this place and eat somewhere else.More
