NYE 19/20 Tapas banquet was superb. The food is always sensational and the service excellemt without being obtrusive. Great value with a very interesting winre list that now can also be purchased to take away at reasonable prices.
Go there, you wont be dispapponted. Javier and Francois are the eptiome of hospitality.

We ordered the Javier's Table menu experience. The food was beautifully presented on the plates which made our party of 4 all say WOW as each plate arrived. We all shared the dishes as dish served had a plentiful portion size, so there was more than enough to share and taste. The food was delicious and very flavoursome.. The restaurant's atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxed - the staff and service were friendly, helpful and I will definitely take more friends with me next time.

My wife & I frequently dined at Moda when we lived above the restaurant at its former location at 12 Edward Street, Brisbane CBD, enjoying numerous outstanding and memorable dishes prepared by Chef Javier, as well as warm and friendly service led by Francois and his team.
Due to overseas travel, and then living outside the CBD, it had been at least nine years since we last enjoyed a lunch or dinner at Moda, until January 23, and I'm pleased to say Javier and Francois have taken the restaurant to new heights in their new location at The Barracks, as my wife & I enjoyed one of the most unique dining experiences ever (similar to the Chef's Table at Commander's Palace in New Orleans).
Thanks to Juliette, my wife & I were one of two couples seated at the Kitchen Table, looking straight into the kitchen, watching the team of chefs working so diligently and professionally to “get things right” while being directed and orchestrated by Javier.
It was both amazing and entertaining watching Lenin cooking on the MIBRASA charcoal oven…take a look at some of the photos I’ve attached to this review to see how perfectly cooked the beef was which came out of the MIBRASA.
Both Lenin and Antonio spoke with my wife & me on numerous occasions, as well as Neil & Kate, the couple who were seated next to us at the Kitchen Table, telling the four of us about some of the many dishes they were preparing while assisting Chef Javier.
The restaurant was packed, with not a vacant table when my wife & I arrived at 7:45PM for our booking. Despite this, the service provided to us by Chris was attentive, professional, and helpful, with Chris recommending a 2012 M&Z ‘Reserva’ Tempranillo Blend, which matched perfectly with the Wagyu Beef Sirloin Marble Score 4 which we ordered as a shared main course.
We were encouraged to take our time perusing the menu, and decided to share three dishes, starting with Zucchini Flowers stuffed with Salmon Mousse, followed by Paellita by Javier, with Queensland Seafood, and then the beef. Every dish was beautifully presented, cooked to perfection, and most thoroughly enjoyable.
As stated in the title of this review, Moda is “Truly Deserving of Its #18 Rating (January 2021)” (out of 3,337 restaurants in Brisbane).
It certainly won’t be nine years before my wife & I dine again at Moda…we’re going there with friends the weekend of February 26.
Thank you to Chef Javier, Juliette, Chris, Lenin, Antonio, and many of your other team members who helped make for such an enjoyable and memorable dining experience for my wife & me.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night with another couple who had recommended it. After reading the reviews, we were looking forward to it, but unfortunately, Moda fell very short of our expectations. While the ambience is nice, my husband and I felt that the food was overpriced and service was seriously lacking that day. We decided on the tapas banquet, which gave the table 6 tapas options. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to pick our own options; instead, this was up to the chef. We were given the chicken pate, baked figs, chorizo, pork belly and lamb ribs. I thought it was only five courses, until I realised that the bread we had been served with the pate was counted as a separate course, which I felt was a rip off, considering the bread wasn't even that good. Based on the portion sizes of what we were served, the banquet was definitely not worth $55 per person! Service was also incredibly slow - we actually had to remind the waitress that we had not had our six courses, and she had to check with the kitchen to confirm that indeed, we had not been served enough food. We left feeling very unimpressed and underwhelmed. Definitely not in a rush to go back.

There were 7 of us to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday. The service was excellent.
The waiters were very helpful.
We decided to have a number of Tapas meals and they made sure that we had 7 of each meal served to us rather than the standard 6.
Overall a very enjoyable night and I would definitely recommend it.

I had been meaning to go to Moda since they moved but this was my first visit to the "new" location. The room is impressive and beautifully laid out and makes the most of the wonderful historic space. We were impressed from arrival with the genuine hospitality shown by every person in the team, including Javier. The tapas chefs menu was generous and diverse and represented very good value. There was fantastic duck liver parfait with pedro ximinez jelly, chorizo that was delectable, octopus that was perfectly cooked and while the other two diners loved the tropical presentation thought that this was only misstep and wouldn't order it again. The beef cheeks were delectably tender, the lamb shoulder the best I have had since Cumulus Inc in Melbourne about 5 years ago. The Creme Catalan for dessert was a simple and well executed dessert. In all this was a relaxed and generous meal with the genuine hospitality shown by every staff member. The local produce is of high quality too. Javier and team thanks very much, we can;t wait to return.

The food at Moda is superb. It’s my go too venue because it is so consistently delicious and the chef is always serving something new.
The wine list is extensive and wines are excellent.
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable,
Moda can be very busy (it’s well loved by many) but the ambience is such that you feel relaxed and can graze and chat for hours.

Valentines Day lunch, superb tapas and brasa! Excellent food, great service awesome wine list. Javier and the MODA team shone brightly.
Jalapeño stuffed w goat’s cheese, scallops, fresh burrata, zucchini flowers stuffed w a delicate salmon mousse and a duck terrine offered as a shared tapas entree whetted the appetite for the wagyu rump and WA crayfish brasa. The rump sublime perfectly cooked this was served with a ridiculously tasty and smoky potato bravas. The crayfish yum!
Before dessert a chocolate on chocolate affair Javier surprised us with a plate of the best seafood I have ever eaten WA scampi grilled baked garlic butter chives.
MODA by far the best Spanish restaurant in Brisbane if not the Best Restaurant in Brisbane.

We decided to celebrate our Christmas team building lunch at Moda. We were 51 people and the service, quality of food and environment was absolutely fantastic.
A experience I strongly recommend to anyone or just simply taste the food.
As soon as we get there, François received us and gave us an excellent welcome and better service led by her service manager. Javier greeted us and was very friendly requesting feedback about the food and if we needed anything else.
Food quality was simply excellent - we order a menu with some entreés, mains and dessert with spanish beer and wine. All the team enjoyed the food, service and the outstanding quality. Credit to Javier and his team behind the kitchen.
Definetely, I will be back again, either with the whole team or with my family in the near future.
Totally recommended.

The tapas at Moda never disappoints. This place is consistently excellent. This time we shared five different types of tapas of our choice and everything was outstanding. The crab with mango was exceptional. It was so fresh and full of the flavour of summer in Queensland. The seafood paella was also outstanding. In fact it is often difficult to choose what we like best here because everything is so good. The staff are all very well drilled but also relaxed, friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. Javier has been there every time we have dined here, which is always wonderful to see. This is a Brisbane classic and if you haven't had tapas here, you are missing out on a great dining experience.

Saturday night was our first time in Moda and The place straight away became one of our favourite restaurant. The service we received was amazing, they made us feel
very welcomed. The staff know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority.
We decided to go with Javier's selection of 6 tapas and let the chef surprise us. It was delicious, everything we tasted melted in our mouths. Add to this the amazing wine recommendation and it was a win of a night!
We will definitely be back again and highly recommend this place to our friends.
Thank you !

Our dinner was on the same night as a large wine tasting function and we had the Chef's Menu which I suspect may have been the same for the event. It wasn't up to the standard of a previous lunch in terms of taste, finesse or presentation. Dick liver parfait was a early highlight and sadly most of the rest of the meal wasn't memorable, including the usually reliable lamb shoulder. The service was good and the wine was enjoyable but we didn't finish our food which appears have been more focused on volume rather than quality. Still we will go back as I think that this was a glitch, avoiding a function may be a good strategy for the next visit.

We had a few tapas plates as a starter, which were all outstanding. Served by a young man who identified himself as the chef's son. You should proud of him. He was a great combination of professional, friendly, relaxed and courteous. Excellent service.
But as it was a celebration dinner, my son and I went for the 1kg Fiorentina T-bone steak for two ordered medium/rare. Being a fan of good steak, I have often been disappointed by poor quality and or a good cut ruined by over cooking.
But I can confidently say, that this was one of the best T-Bone steaks I have ever eaten in my 64 years on this planet. It was succulent, perfectly cooked and tasty. My compliments to the chef and the cow who sacrificed itself.
A great atmosphere, evening and venue, Thank you

Son and partner up from Melbourne so what better treat than to head to MODA where in 6 visits we have never been disappointed! Well a big tick again! We chose that the chef Javier “feed us” cauliflower panna cotta, duck liver parfait, black pudding pintxo, chicken croquettes and Victorian asparagus preceded a Fiorentina T-bone with assorted roasted vegetables. Flawless! Service as usual impeccable even allowing for the staff shortage due to Covid. Wine list very good. Do yourself a favour when next dining out give MODA a call, don’t think you will be disappointed!

I’ve been a bit lazy with reviews through Covid, but I’ve just had the most amazing meal that made me realise I need to be more appreciative of the hard work the hospitality crowd are putting in.
We’ve dined at Moda quite a few times before, usually having the Tomahawk steak. Today, with the tomahawk unavailable, we went the T-bone for 2 with its usual side of baked vegetables and we added the Spanish potatoes and roasted Brussel sprouts. All I can say is that everything on the table sang - an amazing combination of flavours that melded perfectly and also stood, proudly and deliciously, on their own. Not sure what elevated this meal from lovely to superb, but keep it up, Moda. Just divine!
