Yesterday, we visited Sheesh Mahal and thoroughly enjoyed our Indian lunch quickly prepared by an owner/chef from Delhi. The starters of Vegetable Samosas and Onion Bhaji were perfectly prepared. A chef’s special followed, Lamb Nihaari, consisting of chopped lamb shanks, slow cooked in aromatic herbs...and spices. This dish was a first for us and we loved it! Full flavoured Chicken Madras, Peas Pulao, condiments, rice and hot fresh stuffed Naans completed our meal. We were very satisfied with the service, prices, entertaining conversation with the owner and loved the food. Can definitely recommend this restaurant and will most certainly return.More
Ordered the butter chicken mild. It came quite spicy almost too spicy to eat and only barely resembled the classic butter chicken taste. My partner and I were very disappointed. I can cook a better butter chicken myself so next time I will.
I have been before but it never disappoints. We had the best meat and vegetarian dishes to farewell a yoga friend off travelling. I had the prawn goan medium and it was excellent. Naans are a favourite with my children.
Nice food. Goat curry was particularly nice. Nothing really out of the ordinary for an Indian restaurant, but the delivery service is a bit careless - the raita container wasn't properly sealed and spilled throughout the plastic bag.
A perfect example of why front house staff shouldn't be your daughter and your equally unable to phrase English, son.
Made an order for my family, it was to be delivered. When it did not arrive at the suggested time(10mins), I checked my bank account...to confirm the immediate and completed charge then called to see if there was a delay. A woman answered, I explained and she stated in a positive tone "we have had no orders tonight, then hung up". Sure she had misheard me or was busy and slipped I attempted to call back. Noticing it was only 20mins till closing time(8mins away from me). The phone rang out and went to msg bank.
Slightly panicked I drove across town with my family to retrieve our dinner before the store closed.
When I arrived the son and father denied orders. When I showed my bank statement showing the completed payment he stated "prove it" I laughed and explained that this is enough evidence for fair trade. The father then handed me an iPad with and order list and said "see, no order". I immediately identified my order by the amount and dish list, pointing to it and explaining this is my order amount, NY order number and dishes. Where is my damn food.
Now the woman finally admits she had received my order and they had cooked it but the driver had just disappeared with the food. She explained she couldn't get a hold of him.
I explained that none of this was my problem and that they had my $77 and I had nothing. I explained how that can be viewed as stealing. She reluctantly accepted to refund.
You want to get rolled and get some weird fear and loathing experience? hit up this totally inept family run joint.
FYI there is a police beat real close if anyone experiences this, call them directly.More
This place is a cluster of 3 restaurants side by side – Sheesh Mahal is in the middle, an Italian & Thai place on either side. We visited for dinner on a Saturday evening with our BYO wine. It is best to arrive here early...before it gets busy – they receive a huge amount of telephone orders. The balcony could certainly do with some oscillating fans, given that we are in the middle of Summer. The lady serving our table was polite and friendly however it was difficult to get the staffs attention across the room for things like more water or to request the bill. The beautiful food however keeps us coming back – definitely better than most Indian places, very authentic and reasonably priced. We are thinking of visiting in Winter next time and going earlier.More
