Absolutely authentic Indian cuisine as one would expect to find in India. This comes from someone who travels through India on a regular basis. The Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. The atmosphere was warm and inviting without looking like an Indian Bazaar. I can highly recommend this restaurant to anybody in Sydney Australia

We had a really lovely meal in this restaurant during our stay in Sydney. It came recommended, and because it is so popular, it is advisable to make a reservation.

We had a lovely meal at Malabar. I walk past it every day and decided I had to go in (8 months after I moved into the area). The food, service and atmosphere were really good - I hardly see this place empty when I walk past and now I understand why. I would recommend to anyone that fancy's an... More

I live in the area and have probably dined at Malabar no fewer than 100 times in the last 10 years. Seriously... 100 times! Firstly, this is not an "Indian diner" experience; this is a top-shelf, white-linen dining experience. The service staff are incredible; well presented in great uniforms that are a fusion of traditional and modern design. They are... More

Only a 15 minute drive from the Mall. We opted for a banquet dinner and were rewarded with a wonderful selection of delights. The meats were tender and flavours did not disappoint. The decor, with its interesting large sepia photo murals were visually fascinating. Clean modern feel with starched white tablecloths. Great location and there is always a taxi driving... More

Malabar Indian restaurant is located at the top of Kings Crooss - within 100 metres of the Coca Cola sign in Darlinghurst. We chose train travel for convenience. This Indian restaurant provides Southern Indian cuisine. The food is moderately spicey and very tasty. The food was delivered very promptly to out table with considerable courtesy. We chose a banquet meal... More

A wide ranging authentic menu of southern Indian dishes accompanied by excellent warm service. Taking your own wine is acceptable.

The menu is a little bland ! No sides, very bland food and it could be so good. The location is amazing and the staff are really friendly. Please improve the menu!

Neighbourhood Profile
Darlinghurst
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
