We just finished a wonderful dinner at Altitude. My husband had the kingfish ceviche and I had the soft shell crab tempura - both were delicious. I had the cauliflower as my main course - it was fabulous. My husband had the Ulladulla swordfish which he described as maybe the best swordfish he ever had. We finished with the Apricot... More

This restaurant is allocated within the Shangri-la Hotel. It is on the top floor, so the view is breathtaking. Food and service is good. My husband and I had the degustation menu, which was just lovely! We spent almost 4 hours there!! It is worth a visit. Restaurant is fine dining, so menu is priced at fine dining prices. Make... Dined here for dinner with a group of 7 friends on the big full moon night. Beautiful views overlooking Harbour bridge and Opera house etc. Watching to scene go from day to night. We had the tasting menu $150 and absolutely loved every dish. The flavours were delish and selection was great If you are going to spoil yourself this... More

My husband and I went here to enjoy a Christmas lunch and the food and wait service didn't disappoint. Abbey was great and made sure we always had our glass full. The menu for Christmas lunch was set and really nice - the matching wines were also really great. They accommodated my request for an alternative dessert and would recommend... More

We stayed in the hotel and were really looking forward to the dinner. It was over $200 before wine and the meal was terrible. The beef was cold and really fatty. The other courses were tiny and tasted terrible. The desert was the only good course. The wine was a great recommendation and the staff were nice. We didn't complain... More

Besides the ambiance it's a complete disaster. Fish over cooked, everything over salted, risotto watery and bland. Even the sides were sadly lacking. They have no business charging 200$ a head. Really disappointing. Don't waste your time or money. Also we sat down at 9pm and we're still waiting for dessert at 11:30. Unacceptable.

Booking is essential. Don't worry if you don't get a window seat as the tiered floor ensures a great view wherever you sit. Great menu and extensive wine list. Servers are attentive but not overbearing.

Had a private lunch here and think it's one of the best views you can have in a town full of awesome views. The food was good not great but nothing bad. The service was attentive and excellent and would visit again in Sydney. One thing to note, it was quite warm in the restaurant that day which would seem... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
