Went for dinner after Christmas. We were seated in the upstairs area which was quiet. The food was very good and the prices are reasonable. Typical dishes on offer, nothing surprising or outstanding. The service was cordial and quick, and we were surprised with a lovely fruit platter at the end.

Being in Sydney in December 2016 for a long weekend and staying close to the Paddy's Market the opportunity arose to try out the Emperor's Garden Restaurant. This was the first time we had eaten there and although it is not as prominent as other chines restaurants in China Town, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The... More

Had tasteless spring rolls with meat fragments followed by tasteless Chicken with stale cashews with frozen peas and old cooked carrots AND some Mongolian lamb with surprisingly little flavour. The main problem with meat in both dishes was that it was clearly not fresh. I asked to speak with owner and told him all the ingredients were tasteless (except the... More

We still come here for Yum Cha family gatherings. The steamed dumplings are good and we love selecting from the trolleys. Sticky rice in lotus leaf is always a hit and If you can get the calamari when it's fresh from the kitchen then it will disappear off the plate quickly. Other great things to try are the sesame prawn... More

Was told this is the second best Chinese restaurant in town after a certain Mr Wxxx. Deco was really dated; service was average; food was so-so. Would not come back again as the price was $$$.

We passed by Haymarket on our way to Darlinghurst and we didn't plan it, but it was a good discovery. I didn't know cream puffs can taste this good sans the caramelized sugar on top. There was sure a reason why people line up to grab bites of this delicious pastry. By the looks of it, it's always baked fresh.... More

Very good Yum Cha, very easy going. Friendly service and decent prices. Not too touristy either. A must try

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighbourhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theatre, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
