This restaurant seems to be a magnet for lovers of Chinese food in Sydney. I had been here before but forgotten the name. This time I took a Chinese client and was pleased that I had found it again. As usual with Chinese food, we shared the dishes but, for those who like to enjoy a whole dish to themselves,... More

Was looking for some Chinese for dinner, so we ventured into Chinatown, a couple of blocks from the Oaks on Castlereagh (Reviewed), we were accosted by person after person, thrusting menus into our hands, telling us to come inside, they had the best food available. We continued down Chinatown Mall, and found Nine Dragons towards the City end of the... More

Three of us shared a wide variety of yum cha in this restaurant, which has both outdoor seating and a spacious indoor area upstairs, decked out in very much the style you'd expect. We had no complaints about any of the food, and the prices were reasonable. Service, depending on the waiter in question, was variable however.

While I have found many restaurants in Sydney to be "gluten free friendly" this was a nice mix of vegetarian and gluten free with excellent food.definately recommended

We just walked there from Holiday Inn Darling Habour. Had our 1st dinner in Sydney, food is excellence and service is good. Worth checking out for Chinese cuisine.

We discovered it was impossible to choose a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, so picked randomly. We chose the Nine Dragons and were not disappointed! The staff were very friendly, we had a choice of outdoor or indoor seating and chose outdoor where we could take in the bustle and atmosphere of Chinatown. The food was absolutely amazing and the prices... More

We were walking through Chinatown on the pedestrian walkway of Dixon Street and saw the menu for Nine Dragons. Not sure where we wanted to eat we kept walking, looking at other options, none of which seem to compare to Nine Dragons so we backtracked to them for dinner and we are so happy we did. They offer a one-price... More

We were a large party and enjoyed a fine Cantonese meal in this restaurant. Our Hong Kong contingent ensured we ordered well and the Mongolian Lamb and the Sizzling Beef were particularly enjoyed. Service could have been better but this was a good value experience in Chinatown

My friends and I visited here for a birthday lunch for yum cha. Wave after wave of selections were brought o the table even though we had specified on the order sheet what we wanted so we kept having to knock back things we didn't want. Several of us had food concerns and we found that the servers had little... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighbourhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theatre, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
