Went here a treat as we like good food and had heard that this was voted in the top 50 restaurants in the world and thought it would be worth the substantial price.Complete disappointment, great views of the Sydney harbour bridge and desserts were the only plus here, smudged cutlery, badly cooked tasteless dishes, suffered from stomach cramps in the evening after this meal.If... We went there last night to celebrate my daughter's graduation from Uni. The position of this restaurant is to die for but that is where it ends. The meals were hit and miss and I seemed to be the only one to pick the good ones which were the wagyu beef and the abalone. My husband's tiny portion of duck... More

My Uncle took me and a small group of our family here when he was visiting from overseas. Being a huge food connoisseur himself, I knew when he picked Quay as our dinner spot that we were in for a treat. After a slightly awkward entrance (we had been waiting outside for a bit and the waitress inside simple said... More

Went there on Easter Friday for my husband's birthday. I have not heard raving reviews from people over the last 10 years so have had no desire to visit in the past. However as I was picking a restaurant for the night, read an article in the papers about how great it was and still is so I went ahead... More

Birthday dinner. We are locals, we love our food and our wines even more and my wife picked this place for my birthday. We felt like the only locals and although we pointed out it was for my birthday we didn't get the window seat which is fine because apparently you rather give it out to tourist kids we only... More

Service is excellent. Food is up there with the top restaurants in Sydney. However, some servings are too small. Much of Japanese feel to the food and presentation. My husband, normally not a big eater, munched on the sourdough to fill the gap. Dessert is good. Decor hmm... seem outdated. Too bad there's a cruise at the time of dining... More

The food is quite good, maybe not quite up to scratch for the ranking it has but we really enjoyed it. The service however was so disappointing. When you're paying $425 per head for dinner like we did, it's not unreasonable to expect some knowledgeable service staff. Our waitress seemed to lack any wine or food knowledge, describing different Chardonnays... More

I was taken there by Sydney friends for a special occasion. The location is awesome, even better than Aria. Made even more so by the departure of a closeby cruise ship. Service was great even if a bit 'stage managed'. We had the 4 course dinner and we were very disappointed. The lamb was so underdone thst you couldnt cut... More

My husband and I had booked Quay Restaurant well in advance as we were travelling from the UK to Australia for a month for my 40th birthday. We were very excited for this meal we had high expectations of the restaurant. On arrival we were not disappointed we were given a lovely table with an amazing view of the opera... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
