This was the second time I'd been to Almond Bar, and once again I was reminded of what a fantastic, hidden little gem of a place this is. The staff were absolutely lovely; we tried the chef's special Syrian duck (do yourself a favour and order this), delicious dips and great wine. The special touches like the almonds you get... More

We had a couples dinner Saturday night. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Atmosphere great with no spare seats. Good service and orders delivered quickly. Food is on another level. Awesome! Standard city prices but well worth it. Do your self a favor.

Around the World in 80 Dinners took us to Almond Bar in Darlinghurst. From the outside, it looks nothing impressive but once inside the ambience is perfect. Despite it being a full on busy night the noise level was not such that you could not have conversations with everyone at the table. The food was tasty and plenty full. You... More

We love Almond bar. We saw it on TV in Singapore years ago and have been many times since. As with everything in Australia now - it is not cheap - labour cost I suppose push prices up but the food is nice and the service is fantastic. They just need a little more honey on their baklava and all... More

Found a little restaurant in Surry Hills called Almond bar which has a breakfast opening once a month. Everything on the menu looked authentic and full of spices. Owners were genuine and chatty and eager to please. I had a big breakfast with Syrian sausages, scrambled eggs, stuffed aubergine and pickles. My wife had a bean salad with a soft... More

This restaurant is a little jewel in Darlinghurst. The food is excellent and the service very good. It is advisable to have a booking , because the place is very small . The menu has all the Middle - Eastern specialties and also set menus. I can assure you the food is really superb. It is expensive and as I... More

Four of us visited on a busy Saturday night. Started with innovative cocktails, had a banquet selection but with an item added.Left full and happy marvelling at the fine Syrian flavours, the patient and attentive service, and the reasonable cost. A restaurant Sydney can be proud of.

After a busy day of meetings we wanted something close to our hotel in Darlinghurst. Love shared plates & hadn't tried Syrian, so opted fir Almond. Went with one of the set menus fir 2 of us taking the decision making away. Great option! So many delicious tastes, textures and tidbits. Small rustic interior which quickly filled with regulars even... More

What a little gem, I'm still dreaming about the smokey and smooth baba ganoush, had to resist the offer to take some home, the vegetarian menu is a true delight and the staff were attentive and really helpful, and the almonds, yum. Beautiful attention to detail and a great place to take out of state guests.

Thank Shezzle

Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighbourhood Profile
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
