Four of us enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Red Lantern last Saturday night We all went with the $75 Hanoi Hunger Tasting menu which consisted of eight scrumptious courses. The service was fantastic as was the general ambience.

Had been looking forward to eating at Red Lantern & wasn't disappointed. We had the pork belly rice paper rolls & the rice cakes with tiger prawns for entree & the kingfish in tamarind & beef with black pepper for main. The serves are quite large & we probably would have been fine with only one entree & main. The... More

Just excellent. From the moment we walked in, service was fantastic and the food was beautiful. The Mr Ho's cocktail was particularly good.

We were looking for a special place to enjoy dinner with family while visiting Sydney, and this was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious and the wait staff looked after us really well. As we did not have a booking, they sent us off for a drink nearby and happily called us when a table became free.

Have been waiting a long time to have dinner here. And was not disappointed! Service was good! We had the tasting menu and was delish. As well as the tasting plate for dessert. Cocktails were very yummy. Wish Luke could have been there. Will recommend and go back when next in Sydney. Please open a restaurant in Melbourne.

I didn't enjoyed my experience at Lantern. I think the fish was not fresh and the flavour was not that tasty.. Mussels were really not good. The meat was hard. The coconut dessert was good. Too expensive for the level. The wine list is poor. Few beers available. Cocktails are expensive and very small in quantity..just ice..

Just a quick call out to Pauline, Mark, Luke and the entire team at Red Lantern here in Sydney. Thank you for an absolutely fabulous lunch recently (or should that be a very long lunch?!). I took some of our staff out to celebrate and acknowledge a team members work anniversary. The service and food was impeccable throughout our long... More

Given the fame of a certain part owner, the expectations were high. Too high, I guess. 3 of us tried the Hanoi Hunger tasting menu, $75 without sweets. The 8 courses were generally well executed though some of the combinations seemed a tad too try-hard for me. For example it is difficult to see what the (excellent) oven baked pork... More

I visited the Red Lantern some time ago when it was at the top of Crown St - it was expensive but worth every cent. The location, the ambiance were both fantastic and the food was sensational. So I thought it would be good to visit again and bring the family - I will be short: The booths are too... More

Took a dear friend to celebrate her 50th birthday and we chose well. The food was authentic, fresh and vibrant. The decor warm and welcoming and the service faultless. Thank you for a great evening!

Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighbourhood Profile
Darlinghurst
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
