I really dont like to leave bad reviews but this place was baaaaad. We went from a recommendation for my partners birthday. The service was awful, we were ignored most of the night, they forgot part of our order, everyone seemed miserable and i was made to feel like i had done something wrong when i requested items that never... To be honest I discovered this by accident one Monday night and decided to try their Monday $10 steak et frites. Well it was certainly good value and good quality steak cut into side slices after cooking. Way too many frites for a sensible person so subsequently switched to half salad, half frites. Went there a few times after cinematheque... More

Went to the Passage Bar for a drink. The place was recommended by a Doorman at another place that was booked out for a private party. It was very ordinary at best. There were boxes up above the bar making it feel unkept, dirty tea towels laying across the bench at the left, and a general uncared for feeling. The... More

I'm an addict!! Every monday I go here with my partner for diner. They have a special menu "steak-french fries" for 10$. The best I had in Sydney!! The steak come with an excellent sauce (I could even lick my plate !), and the fries are just delicious, thin and crispy like I love! I always take the grield haloumi... More

We went on a Thursday, it wasn't too busy which is a surprise because they have great offers on including espresso martinis all night for $10. Jackson the barman is a cool cat, attentive and quick with service. Would recommend without hesitation to friends who want a laid back vibe. Booked an upcoming birthday at the passage because of the... More

It was the best place in Sydney we've been to. We've got steak and fries for 10$ spesial. And it was the best steak i've tasted in Straya. And chocolate cake was just totally delicious! Atmosphere and interior is really nice, staff is friendly and attentive. We were especially pleased with every day specials.

Went for tapas on cheap eats Tuesdays and Oh My Goodness, what a great experience. From the start the hostesses were welcoming and warm, the decor is funky and seating in comfortable and the ambience was spot on, relaxed music and cosy seating. Tuesdays is 50% off food - my friend and I had five tapas dishes of dried meats,... More

The tapas style means that we can try more than a few of the dishes. Shoestring fries with truffle oil and parmesan, calamari, brussels sprouts, cauliflower and zucchini flowers were all excellent. The smoked salmon was disappointing as were the $10 cocktails - not much alcohol in mine. I would definitely go back - even if only for the Calamari.... More

In a city frequently lauded for it’s enviable array of eateries and watering holes, many are often left wanting when it comes time for a little late night revelry. Amidst a sea of pubs, clubs and swanked up bars exists a glaring void for those seeking an element of intimacy and seclusion in their exploits after dark. Introducing 'The Passage' – An unprecedented and considered alternative to Sydney’s drinking and eating culture. Set apart from the current crop of small bars, The Passage boasts a refined food and beverage offering and a 3am trading license – allowing the venue to transition from small bar to small club as the night rolls along.

Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighbourhood Profile
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
