This is a loud and lively party place for the younger generation. Full disclosure:my wife and I are 57 year old tourists. We stopped by here based on the loud (hip hop) music. There was a live band playing and the courtyard was full of people dancing and having a great time. Since there were no open tables we went... More

Still love the location and venue. A little bit cheesy on music but still good for a night out with friends. Haven't eaten here so can't comment on food. Drinks are ok. Only downside is the bouncers had so much attitude, like they are running some special VIP hangout. It's just a bar, get over yourself...

It was a very hot summer day in December so we stopped by for happy hour. We split a pitcher of margaritas between the 3 of us and it was a great place to cool off at their outdoor patio. Nice bar tenders and great atmosphere.

Walked across harbour bridge to here for a bit of a walk. 2 bartenders in dying busy lunch time period in public holiday. Took ages. Jugs of cocktails are good value. Ordered meal. $52 for a mixed grill which meat was dry and over cooked, came out on a grill but was well done by the time it got to... More

We stopped in for a quick lunch on a sweltering afternoon, and found a lovely courtyard in which to bag some shade and cool down. Good sandwiches on the menu with a special mention for the roast pork with crackling - very tasty...

We went here after dinner and were only drinking. It has a nice selection of beer and is an atmospheric location. It was quiet when we went but that was probably as it was xmas eve. I have one criticism and that is that the toilets were not cleaned properly. They had a team of cleaners onboard so I am... More

I have been to this venue on a number of occasions and have never had a very good experience. The food is very average the drinks are very expensive and the service is poor. The venue itself is interesting but thats about it. There are so many good places to eat and drink in the Rocks i would not waste... More

Well, there's a first time for everything. $12 for a pint and they want to hit you with a 10% extra charge for running a tab. What possible justification is there for that? If someone runs a tab they're paying in one transaction instead of many, making it less work for the staff. The joint seems to be set up... More

Friend booked a table for his birthday and everyone was really disappointed for the following reasons. -Booked a table for 8 and we were given a table that was barely big enough for 4 people to eat at. -Filthy glasses -No more pizzas at 8pm -Bad service, the staff were just dumping food on the table with no idea what... There's no question that The Rocks is home to some of Sydney's most intriguing historical stories. And our landmark venue, The Argyle, has a unique, rich history all of its own. The sandstone walls that house The Argyle had seen some interesting sights well before we all hit the dance floor.Situated in one of Australia's oldest buildings, The Argyle is richly historic, while maintaining a uniquely modern take. With five bars held over two levels, we have a variety of areas to suit any mood. Whether you choose to hide away in a booth, gather friends around the high tables, chill out in the lounges or venture in to the open-air cobbled courtyard - the choice is yours. With capacity for up to 1800 guests, it's also the ideal location for large-scale events and celebrations.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
