We had asked at our hotel for a quiet Italian restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday. They recommended Pendolio, and it turned out to be a horrible mistake that left my wife in tears. We arrived on time and were escorted to a "special" table. The only thing special about it was that it a horrible table near the bar,... More

It's been a while since I've been to Pendolino and I realize the error of my ways after my recent visit. Outstanding pasta, extremely tasty and also a little different to the usual Italian fare on offer all around Sydney. We had 2 fishy pasta dishes, one with black squid ink and one with prawns and chilli and both were... More

The papperdelle with wild mushroom sauce and truffled egg yolk was so delicious, I think this is most authentic and best pasta dish I have had outside Italy.A wonderful selection of breads and olive oils are provided and replenished as required. A good selection of Italian wines are available but they certainly come at a cost. Overall a very enjoyable... More

What an amazing take on Italian food. We went with family on their recommendation and from the minute you enter the staff show how professional they are. Your waiter for the night introduces himself and puts you at ease instantly. All our group of 6 ordered different meals and we were all impressed with what we were served, both in... More

This restaurant is tucked away on the top floor of the strand arcade. On entering it, you are transported to a trattoria where the wine recommendations are reliable, and will encourage you to try something different. Good, hearty Italian food. Great date night restaurant.

Enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Pendolino which is on the 2nd floor of the Strand Arcade in George Street, Sydney. You wouldn't believe such a beautiful restaurant with terrific atmosphere was hidden away in this attractive oldie worldy multi storey arcade. Loved the pumpkin lasagne and partner went back another for another visit to enjoy again the three cheese and... More

A really typical Italian restaurant and we like to eat there every time we visit. Very good food and Italian wines with a helpful sommelier. A little bit gloomy inside but always busy.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this magnificent restaurant. Everything about the evening was flawless. The breads & oils were so good you will be tempted to buy some to take home. For entree I had the spinach ravioli with burnt butter and sage. For main I had the duck. For dessert I had the ricotta fritters with... More

What a great restaurant. The knowledge of the menu by the wait staff was outstanding. I have coeliac and require a complete gluten free diet - nothing was an issue. Only that I missed out on the pasta - which is amazing (so I was told!). Wine list is extensive and the somelier was very helpful. Was really busy and... More

if you like an authentic Italian restaurant - crowded, noisy, no space between tables, no space on the table, constant bumping by unapologetic waiters who are all so genuinely Italian that they will argue with customers about what was or wasn't ordered in a manner bordering plain rude - then this is the place for you. Because despite these issues,... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
