Our first foray into a sit down meal in the era of COVID was brunch at Space. We walked from Lyons to Space and it was worth the walk. Upon arrival we were greeted and our table was cleared and made ready to conform with COVID arrangements.
The party was six adults and a baby. This proved to be an easy fit for the staff who provided a round table with ample room for pram etc.
The menu is extensive and the friendly staff took coffee orders before setting about delivering our meal. All members of the party chose a variety of dishes which would have tested a lesser kitchen.
However we were delivered our brunch with minimal fuss. The food and coffee were delicious and a great start to COVID era dining.
The bill worked out at approximately $25.00 per person which I think was excellent value for money.
I recommend Space and will visit again.

One of the best breakfasts in Canberra. They won best breakfast in 2017, so whoever won in 2018 & 2019 must be pretty awesome as this place is hard to beat.
The menu has a great selection beyond the basics, the servings are large, and even when it’s busy there is little wait for food and coffee.
If you want to watch a well run kitchen grab a seat at the bar.

We had a fabulous Willie Wonka afternoon tea here just recently, the WW platter was just delightful -full of exciting treats in true Space Kitchen style. The service on the day was excellent, friendly, well spaced and amenable. The range of treats was delightful and there was tons so we took a lot home and it was equally as delicious over the next couple of days.
Some people in our group of 5/6 ( more about that in a minute) had the alcohol version and the cocktails were great and others just the regular. While special high teas around Canberra are always pricy, this is at the lower end of them so it is good value for the range and especially the uniqueness of the treats. Only added comment here is some savoury treats would have been nice too.
Where I've dropped a star is in the mis-communication with Space Kitchen as mistakes were made. I rang up about two weeks prior as I had a complicated booking. I wanted a table set for 6 but with only 5 people in the booking as one person has lots of complicated allergies and just didn't want to risk it. Two other people also have nut allergies (they run in the family) so just wanted to clarify that the WW platter was nut free.
The person who answered the phone said that I needed to book via the website, put all these details into the note section and also pay a deposit which would be clear on the booking. So I went to the website, selected the WW page and clicked on "book." I was a bit surprised that when selecting the type of meal, I was not offered the WW afternoon tea, just the regular afternoon tea as I had clearly come from the WW page booking button.
I put all my comments as above into the notes section but there was no request to pay a holding deposit and when the confirmation email came, none of my comments were in it.
I rang the next day to check and the person on the phone said that they no longer do the WW email on Wednesdays (presumably possibly not on any early weekday) but I said that there was no info saying this on the page and the page had let me book. However, he said that they could accept my booking as they had another booking for WW on the same day that they had accepted a long time ago.
This made me wonder what would have happened if I hadn't rung to check -would we have shown up on the day and been disappointed? I am thinking that Space Kitchen may need to make this clearer on their web page!
None the less, it all worked out in the end, it was a lovely and special afternoon tea

Visited for breakfast on a busy Tuesday morning. Had the green eggs and ham, it was literally the best breakfast I have ever had! The service was great with food arriving quickly after ordering and the coffee was delicious. Highly recommend this place!!

I tried out Space Kitchen for Sunday breakfast with my daughter and her friend. We had a difficult time selecting as the menu has so many yummy options and we were distracted by the delicious looking desserts. I selected the French toast, my daughter the breakfast burrito and her friend the avo on toast. The serving size was generous and we all agreed that the food was top quality and very tasty. We didn't make it a week before venturing back to try the dessert selections which didn't disappoint and were unique and so yummy. We will be going back as soon as we can to try the second options on our lists. So glad it is a 20 min drive or my waist may not forgive me.

We had lunch here for the first time and we entered through the entrance from car park. As we walked in no staff acknowledged my friend and I so we waited for a bit and then assumed from the lack of staff acknowledgment that we are to choose our own table.
When we sat down, a female waitress with black and white adidas shoes (who we assume is the manager or person in charge of seating people as she was using a clipboard) came up to us very abruptly. In a tone of voice which was loud and rude, she told us that we were meant to wait at the other door.
If you want diners to wait at the other door, there needs to be signage and staff who acknowledge us.
She was also quite rude to a male waiter in front of customers and had gotten other customers for not waiting in trouble.
I’m not one to ever review a negative experience but I felt like I was a school student in trouble at school.

Masterchef worthy breakfast!
My kids and I found this on Instagram and I am SO glad we made the effort to go! The kids all had the ‘Eaton’ mess waffles which were incredible and I had the zucchini fritters with beetroot hummus. The coffee was good too. And the atmosphere is great. Excellent customer service too. I really can’t fault this cafe. Well worth the trip!

After seeing patrons who arrived after us receiving their food I enquired as to our order. Apparently the staff ‘couldn’t find us’ at a table inside their own establishment. Only after I approached staff and the front counter was our order - incomplete - brought the our table. Very poor service with only a shallow ‘sorry’ for our trouble until I asked a third time how they would rectify their oversight.

After reading some great reviews about this amazing cafe/restaurant I wanted to give it a go and glad I did.
From the get go the service was awesome. Menu options are great. I had the chicken tacos and my friend the fish and chips. All I can say is that the food quality and taste was excellent.
We finished our meal with a chai tea and cappuccino. If you like Chai tea you won’t be disappointed!
Glad I went and will most definitely be returning.

Space Kitchen is amazing. Been there a few times now over a couple of years and the quality of the food and service is impeccable. Really professional staff and quick, attentive service.
We’ve had a range of meals and all have impressed my kids from the ages of 4-24 yrs. The harmony of flavours has been a highlight for me with different meals over the years. Had the Moroccan Lamb Salad today which was delectable.
Take away cakes for after dinner helped extend the experience. The Psychedelic Mushroom was my favourite with the layered gel, sponge and mousse, just beautiful.
Thank you to the team.

We had breakfast here and the coffee was nice as were the breakfast bacon and egg rolls. The minor service plate was definitely a handful to finish, and the french toast special was yummy. A bit out of the way if you are staying on the Canberra's north side but this visit was worth the trip.

Came here early in the morning. Was given a table quickly.
Scanning a QR code allowed you to order online, make any changes, and pay using a range of methods (with no surcharges).
The coffee came out within minutes and the food wasn’t far behind. Space Kitchen has never failed to disappoint me over the years. They consistently do amazing coffee and their food menu has items that can meet whatever your taste buds might feel like that day.

I had a fabulous breakfast which included a great coffee! There was a great range of different meals on the menu. As I was in a hurry to go to a meeting I settled for bacon and eggs, which were done beautifully. Friendly service. It is Licenced.
Also I went back there several time to get a takeaway large coffee as I was staying at the Woden Hotel.

I ordered a friand today and found a long hair inside it, it was very bad experience for the first time I tried a dessert from Space Kitchen. Their desserts are super expensive as well by the way, for what they sell. I am not having any more dessert from them next time!

Have been to Space Kitchen for breakfast and lunch more than once. never disappointed, always fabulous.
Have had different selections off both menus, and have had just coffee and cake there on occasion too.
Always clean, always friendly, always a generous serving, always on time, always great value.
Nice drinkable everyday wine list too.
Highly recommend for a weekday breakfast, lunch, catch up or a bit of quiet time and a treat for yourself.
