It was always hard to book a seat at this restaurant, especially for a big family like us - 2 adults and 3 kids. We managed to book in 2 weeks in advance and ate on a busy Friday night last week to celebrate our 4 year's birthday. Despite the busy night, the staff made you feel relaxed and warmly treated with details. The decor and ambience was so relaxing that I love the fact that you can see the chefs and the kitchen. Followed the advice by the young good-looking waiter George, the bruschetta came as a starter. Next we ordered the osso bucco and the suckling pig. Wow, all were so yum! The pork was succulent juicy and just simply delicious, as was the apple sauce we chose. I just wish it had more crackling because it is the best part. There are so many different dishes on the menu I just can't wait to go back and try more. We all were very impressed by this amazing Spanish restaurant - we will be back very soon! Simply fantastic!

Black Fire offers good food and a vibrant atmosphere. We had an amazing serving professional who offered knowledge and polite service throughout the evening. Be warned though , the servings are quite large ! This is personal preference I guess, however even the smallest steak was too big after breads an an entree, however I know many people who would love this, so try to for yourself. It isn’t a romantic venue, the lighting is bright (Almost harsh) , it is loud due to a lot of hard surfaces, so just go an enjoy the food. It is very centrally located, so if you are travelling, there is a good chance it isn’t far from your hotel!

We were recommended this place as a foodies go to place. The menu was very enticing and had a large variety of dishes. Their tapas were great and reminded us of Barcelona. Unfortunately their service could be a little bit warmer - given the price range although the food was great the expectation on the waiters was higher. They did their job and that is about it.

Black Fire simply does not deliver to a level of quality that you would expect from a restaurant at this price point. Dishes just were not well executed and the service staff seemed to be reading the menu and wine list for the first time. The rstaurant's location is practical right on the corner of Mort and Elouera Streets but the experience was not up to par.

Was quite disappointed with Black Fire. Steaks were very overcooked and the 3 entrees that we ordered involved a lot of pureed ingredients which were hard to discern and texturally boring. I also felt the ambiance was lacking, it didn't feel high end enough given the prices of the food. Wait staff were fine but whoever was in the kitchen I wasn't feeling their passion for the food.

We have learnt long ago to make sure that you book in advance if you want a seat at a particular restaurant and we were glad that we had made a booking at Black Fire before arriving in Canberra. Very busy in town with the Summernats and places closed due to the poor air quality from the NSW and Victorian fires. We decided to have the $59 a head menu and were delighted with the range of food that came to the table. All excellent and we certainly didn't go hungry! We would return to this restaurant again.

We struggled to find a restaurant that had an available table for myself and my 2 teenage sons. We had nearly given up when we came across Black Fire. It was 6pm and I think the restaurant had only just opened for dinner service. It looked like a fairly basic restaurant looking in from the outside, but don't judge a book by its cover! From the moment we walked in the door we were impressed by a lovely young waiter who was very attentive and extremely good at his job. The service was excellent with food to match. Two of us had steaks that were cooked to perfection and my other son had lamb shanks that were delicious. The sides and dessert were all excellent as well. This restaurant was in stark contrast to another local steakhouse we'd eaten at the day before, where the service and food left us very disappointed. I look forward to eating at Black Fire again when I'm next in Canberra.

The food is below average here, I would rather go to a pub to get better food quality than here. We ordered mussels it was stinky, plus the risotto and ravioli was literally tasteless. Couldn’t finish my dinner. However, the only good thing was roasted potatoes. We will never come back and won’t recommend anyone to go there as well. Service was fast but the chefs in the kitchen needs to gear up their game. You need to change your chefs who can cook good quality food. $140 wasted!! However, the menu looks very interesting. Review your food to make sure customers have a good experience.

I had a great time here on the weekend with my wife. We ordered the tasting menu which was great value and provided a wide variety of tapas and a generous serving of meats and sides. The wines were excellent too, as was the dessert tasting plate. The staff were friendly and accommodated all our requests. I would highly recommend this place. Not pretentious, just great quality food, wine and service.

Part of a restaurant's service is making reservations and honouring them. We booked during Covid on a Sunday for the following Friday night for a very important dinner. When we rang an hour before to confirm the sitting time, they said that we did not have a booking. To add insult to injury, the heavily accented person insinuated that I was making it up. We were very upset that to celebrate a birthday, we had to search for a restaurant which would take us at short notice. Major fail for this restaurant which only received one tick because TA would not accept a zero rating.

I’m quite shocked this restaurant is so highly regarded. Quite honestly, none of the sauces or smears were flavoursome, and tasted as if thickened with rice flour. Even the mash was tasteless and sad, I’m not sure how one gets mash so wrong. Luckily, they have a good butcher, that’s about it. The service was so bad, order was taken incorrectly, dishes just pushed into other plates onto the table to make room or dropped anywhere there was a space, not with person ordered. The clearing of plates and glasses, I could have been at a train station deli!!! So sad we chose this meal for Father’s Day, I will never eat here again, it was so bad. We smoke meat with better flavour than that. I should have gone to our local butcher and cooked for ourselves, and bought better wine. This restaurant is totally overrated.

The service was bad with a bunch of untrained students, we basically had the house bread throw at the table and chased after the waiters multiple times to get the culinary and napkins. The quality of food was average for Braddon, and below average for the price. The chicken was very dry yet undercooked, and mixed mushrooms was a disappointment. The only thing we like for the night was the fig ice cream.

Overall we enjoyed some very good food coupled with professional service. A few high's and low's with the food. The tapas was good in particular the roasted baby pepper and Churro. The croqueta was less interesting. Highly recommend the pork belly. There was little choice for our vegan daughter but we knew that from the outset although she enjoyed the pine mushroom risotto. I shared the Grilled Rib Eye with my son which was cooked perfectly (rare). A very good peppercorn veal jus accompanied the steak The side of potatoes was boring which was a shame - the pieces were too big? Needed to be smaller / more crisp. I agree with a previous comment that the ambiance is a little lacking - we were seated in the second room which simply had tables and chairs - it just needs a little more decor? or something to spruce it up. It was just a boring room. Great desserts at the end and reasonably priced wine. We would return and had visited about 5yrs prior. It was better than we remembered!

We visited this place for dinner. The food was average/ok definitely over priced for what it was. The staff were inexperienced and some of them with zero costumer service skills. I ordered coke in a bottle or can and specifically mentioned it a couple of times. I received  flat coke in a glass, when I returned it the waiter started arguing that I just poured this from a can. He eventually changed it to what I ordered however he didn't take it very well. (He basically banged the replacement drinks on the table) The desert was probably the highlight of our night. Ordered 3 deserts, 3 teas and one coffee. All items came at different times 5 to 10 mins apart. One of the waiters was trying to put the boiling hot tea pot In front of my 4 years old kid. In general unhappy with out visit and won't go back. It was a rip off!

Absolutely shocking service, the restaurant wasn’t even full, yet our waiters seemed to completely forget about us. We could’ve gotten up and walked straight out without paying and I doubt anyone would even have noticed. We sat there for more than 20mins after finishing our food and no-one cleared our plates or offered us desserts or coffees, yet they were serving people at tables right next to us. Attempts to make eye contact with any of the wait staff was blatantly ignored. On top of that the food was mediocre at best. I would not recommend this place to even my worst enemy.
