Very popular cafe in the Realm Precinct. The soft shell crab was crispy served with a fresh apple slaw. The sweet potato hash with ham and eggs was a generous portion, fresh and very tasty. Only a few items on the menu marked as gluten free, but the wait staff knew what they were doing and could possibly modify other items if requested. Don’t expect to just wander in; make a booking in advance.

We had breakfast on 2 occasions with a group of 8 ppl inc 4 children over the weekend. All meals were well presented, generous serving sizes and tasted delicious. The cafe had a lovely atmosphere overlooking a small garden area. There were games such as connect four and UNO to entertain the kids. The staff were friendly. Overall very enjoyable. Can’t wait to visit again soon.

We visited Maple and Clove 3 days in a row for breakfast which didnt disappoint and delivered delicious food every time. The service and organisation of the kitchen and waitstaff is exceptional which is a given considering how busy they are immediately after opening with line ups out the door. Brekky options to note: Maple porridge, sweet potato hash brown with scrambled eggs, savoury spelt waffles and the big brekky. Coffee is as smooth as a babies bottom and thats without a drop of milk or sugar. Well worth a visit if you are in Canberra get in early when the doors open. Hoping to come back very soon!

Worst breakfast I have ever had! The waitress was aggressive… she practically threw my meal at me, to the point the table next to us turned their heads in shock. My porridge was cold and tasted like pure cardamon. I like cardamon, but not by the spoonful. My husband got plain eggs on toast, which came with half a plate of salad and only one and a half pieces of toast! Would never go back, how can a cafe go wrong on so many levels?

A friend and I, both from interstate, had breakfast at Maple + Clove on Saturday morning. Upon leaving, we each wanted to pay 50% of the bill via or respective Credit Cards. We were advised by the cashier ‘we don’t split bills here’. We explained that we were not local and we’re told again, ‘we don’t split bills’. How ridiculous. How simple is it to half the bill for two people paying by Credit Card. This is just plain bad service and I won’t recommend any restaurant that makes it difficult for people to pay separately. Don’t eat here. There are plenty of other choices in Canberra.

This story is worth the read. We have been going to Maple and Clove since it first opened many many years ago. Barton precinct was brand new and very quiet. This coffe shop was a hidden secret. We travel to Canberra every month and always have breakfast at M&C during our stay. We have known many of the staff by name over the years and they know us by first names as well. We are fussy about our coffee. Years ago we made a card for my wife lisa with a picture of her Almond milk macchiato so she can show the barrister how she likes it. For years it was stuck on the wall behind the coffee machine at M&C. This morning we went in for our regular breakfast. We ordered our usual coffees. After breakfast we ordered a second coffee. The manager came to our table and was very embarrassed. She told us that the owner said they were not allowed to make Lisa’s Almond macchiato as they only made regular coffee. We were gobsmacked. We asked to speak to the owner but he wouldn’t talk to us. Over the years we have been there literally hundreds of times and spent thousands of dollars. It is the first time ( outside of Italy) that someone has refused to make a coffee how we like it. Our breakfast turned into a wake as it was to be our last visit to M&C. The owners name is Justin and he is a bald guy with a bad attitude. Our recommendation is to never go to this place.

Firstly they allow dogs outside which is great. There is also a little grassy area right next to the cafe. The cafe has an inside and an outside bit. The outside part has about six tables and umbrellas for when it rains. The food is good here. The almond and sweet potato hash brown was different but good different. I would definitely order the hash brown again. The savoury spelt waffle tasted rather healthy. Not my favourite but it is definitely different and just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean it wasn’t well made. The full breakfast on the other hand was fab, the eggs were cooked perfectly. The lattes were fine. The espresso was ok but seemed to be made by someone who isn’t that passionate about coffee. Service was ok. Not that friendly but not rude either. I would return.

Excellent service, quick turnaround for coffees and meals. I chose this cafe for its menu - having some unique options. They didn’t disappoint. The crab omelette was interesting and tasty and my husbands savoury waffles were scrumptious and so light. Coffee was very good.

We ate at Maple&Clove on Sunday and it was a terribly disappointing experience. I called ahead and booked a table. When we arrived it was clear they forgot to reserve my table. They told us there was “an issue” and would be with us in a minute. 15min later we are still standing in the sun with our baby, waiting for our reserved table. We had to follow up with someone else and they showed us our table but told us to keep standing till they cleaned it. TEN minutes later it still wasn’t cleaned and we’re still standing in the sun with our baby. We had to ask another person then then eventually cleaned it. We finally get to sit down and order straight away as we had *30* minutes standing and waiting for the table we had reserved in advance (NB we weren’t walk ins!). However 45min later our food still hadn’t arrived! We asked someone and they said 5more minutes. 15min later we got our food - so one hour wait for the food. And oh 30min wait for our reserved table. Needless to say we had a horrible experience from start to end. What we had hoped would be a lovely Sunday family brunch turned into a disappointing and negative experience. Our mother in law was so excited to try out your cafe and suffice to say we don’t want to go there again.

We accidentally found this hidden gem across the road from the back of our hotel (Hotel Realm). We had breakfast/brunch here two days in a row and were pleasantly surprised with both the quality and quantity of the dishes on the menu. Prices were very reasonable and atmosphere inviting. And to top it off the staff were super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended this place.

We went here a few times because we were staying next door. The food and service were good. The place is really really busy at breakfast on weekdays, but it might depend on what is happening with Parliament. I also bought a take away salad which was almost OK, as the potatoes were a bit underdone. There is a variety of seating - normal tables, long tables and bar seating, as well as an outdoor terrace with umbrellas.

Awesome restaurant. Fantastic customer service and orders were extremely quick being delivered. The coffee is probably the best we've ever had. The food was brilliant. We tried the beef burger, fantastic. Pattie was cooked to perfection and the combination of salad and sauces were delicious. We also had maple scrambled eggs on sweet potato hash brown which was better than the description. Also tried poached eggs on sour dough toast. Just brilliant. We will be back.

Have been here a few times and each time - both take away as we headed to the lake for a morning walk - and dine in, for breakfast, brunch & lunch. We feel this cafe really hits the mark when it comes to breakfast/brunch. We can really recommend the spammer crab omelette (really filling) and the pesto poached eggs with broccolini.

Within easy walk of the realm and Burbury hotels and is a defacto eattery for them. You can book or just be early as it has limited seating and is very popular. Choice is very good and caters for kids as well. Service was quick, courteous and helpful with menu and options for food. The meals were all very large and great value for money.
