We have eaten here perhaps eight times now and the kitchen and serving staff have been on song every time. Spice Affair manages to achieve that most elusive restaurant quality - consistency.
The sauces for the curries are fantastic and you can taste the ingredients that have gone into them. The Butter Marsala is a good example, you could just about forget the chicken or the prawns and just order the sauce and have it with rice it is that good. And speaking of the rice, it is probably the best rice I have ever eaten. It is a super long grain that is only supplied to restaurants. It almost looks like a mini pasta it is that long. The rice is another good example of why this place is so good, the head chef patiently explained to me where the rice comes from and how they cook it. Staff are happy to talk in detail about the dishes.
I feel compelled to comments that the restaurant has somehow gained the system to get such a high ranking. It’s simply a case of customers voting with their stomachs - they love the food and the service. It would seem a large number of reviewers loved the place, many reviewers with dozens of reviews and not the suspect one review offerings that can inflate some rankings. As I said in my first review of Spice Affair, it is not the Taj Mahal, it is a simple restaurant attached to the shopping centre in Casey. The decor is modest as is the fit-out but the food is fabulous.
Long may they prosper.
I am still praying for them to accept BYO wine but that is just a quirk of mine wanting to dig something out of the cellar.

Absolutely loved our visit to this fab Indian restaurant!
We are visiting from NSW and had read some great reviews so thought it was worth checking out and it did not disappoint!
The staff are wonderful, everyone was lovely to deal with, super attentive and it was just a nice environment to be in.
Food was delicious, quote from partner “best spring roll I’ve ever had” - and seriously the spring rolls weren’t even the best part!
I failed to take any pictures because we ate everything so quick but did get a pic of dessert, which was all home made. The chef came out to talk us through it and you could tell he was so passionate and proud, loved that!
Only small thing was that the food came out really quickly, this was only a downfall because we would have liked to spend more time in this lovely restaurant and savour our time there.

My trip to Melbourne was surprisingly elevated through my transit in Canberra and eventually dining at Spice Affair was the best experience which became the highlight of our trip.
OMG,the food, the service, the passion, the attention to detail and the incredible owners who take pride in their product was something that is a rarity nowadays.Well done guys
This will now become part our iteanrry every time we pass through Canberra
Highly recommended.

We booked for dinner and was attended to quickly.
We ordered and the started eating. The food was nice but very small served for four people and then half way through we were asked to leave in 15 minutes as they had another booking . I asked why and they said limited time due to COVID restrictions. I argued that we were not told this when we booked or when we arrived. We were enjoying our meal and we were rudely interrupted.
I did not see any other customers asked to leave.

Thank you for your feedback, though next time you make a booking with us,please try to show up on time.Due to Covid-19’s restrictions we can’t run our business to it’s full capacity, so we are allocating the tables for an hour and half, which helps us work more efficiently to reduce contact with our next guests. We are trying our best to accommodate all guests by providing them with
extraordinary and quick service with generously delicious meals.

Spice Affair was recommended to us by two different friends. We were curious so tried it out for a Friday night take-away. The order was made in the timeframe I was given, when I arrived to pick it up the staff were welcoming and very friendly. The dine in section was full, so this was a good sign. Now to the food - it exceeded my expectation and was delicious. We ordered one dish to be ‘hot’, which it was just the right amount. We very much enjoyed the meal, and will definitely be going back. Will be adding this place to our regular Friday night take out options. Well done to the team, it was such a delight to find some fabulous service and food out here in Canberra’s north.

I have given this feedback to the restaurant before also but it seems the restaurant don't care. I got food yesterday from Spice Affair restaurant in Casey . I have been charged $129.20. When I checked your Take away menu on there website the total comes as $124.20.
Restaurant don't care about this at all. They always charge wrong amounts. This has happened in the past also and I was told that we have to update price on our website. So if you have not updated your website you cannot charge extra. Its not about $5. Its about doing wrong things.
Please check your bills before paying and always take copy of the bill.

Exceptional food and staff. Genuine spicy Indian dishes with pronounced flavours reflecting the complexity of the sauces. The meats (Goat, lamb&beef) were all tender and succulent. Staff were helpful and attentive; food well presented and served in a timely manner. The inflexible BYO policy was not to our liking; the wine choice was extremely limited. The Food and service as close to fine dining for this style of restaurant one could ask for. Prices realistic.

Dined here as a group of 5 and all our orders were offered as mild, medium or hot which was a nice twist to most indian resturants where dishes are standard heat for that particular offering.
Perhaps we are spoit for exceptional Indian restuarants in our area as we found Spice Affair as good but not exceptional. Some of the dishes such as the goat curry were quite good although some such as the range of naan we ordered were just ok
Service was very good, attentive and the food appeared quite quickly

Have been here several times for both takeaway and dine-in, no matter what the food is the same quality which is the best i've found in Canberra! They have friendly staff who go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and are taken care of. The serving sizes are generous and being a Queanbeyan local the travel time is well worth it. Highly recommend!

We were recommended to go the 10klms to eat at Spice Affair and we were pleased we did. Luckily we made a booking because all the tables were full on a Thursday night. The service was friendly and their recommendations good. The table ware was thoughtful, the menu had more options than most, including vegetarian, and the food was tasty and well presented. Portion sizes generous.
Do yourself a favour and visit.

This place is rated as the #1 restarurant in canberra, so they must have been doing some social engineering of reviews to get there because this is a very basic suburban restaurant with basic service. So how they gamed trip advisor is not the point.
When we tried to book they couldnt fit us in till 8.30 so I thought wow this place must be packed, as you would expect for the #1. So we arrived and the place was small but two thirds empty, took a while to get our reserved seat (even thought it was near empty)
The food was OK but certainly not great, but the sort of thing your would expect from a mum and dad take away store in the suburbs.
If this place is around the corner from you (gunghalin) sure it is worth a try , but I wouldnt travel far as there ar many of this standard in canberra and many a lot better.
So it definately looks like they have gamed the system here, ok well done, but we wont be back. Over priced for what you get

We have been eating at this restaurant since it opened and the food and service are first class. Last night was no exception: the restaurant was full and there was a steady stream of take-away. Our food was delivered in a timely way and all the dishes were outstanding: butter chicken, prawns malabar, eggplant and potato curry, coconut rice and the super yummy garlic naan. The wine list has been expanded and updated but we can't go past the very reasonably priced wines from Clonakilla.
Another excellent meal loved by the whole family from grandkids to grandparents. Well done Spice Affair team, Merry Christmas and looking forward to returning in 2023.

Amit and the team at Spice Affairs (Casey) did a fantastic job to cater for my son's birthday party for 20 ppl. Where some restaurants, advised catering for a small function was not their business. The #1 restaurant in Canberra for Indian cuisine did take our order! In my humble opinion, catering for small parties really builds customer relationship and customers observe the professional ethics when restaurants cater for smaller functions prior to giving a bigger order or recommending catering to business events at work.
What was impressive is the clear communication, on time delivery, responsible attitude to listen to customer need and follow through and lazer like customer focus right from the start to end.
Due to flu/cold, we have were not sure if the party would go ahead. Even after the deadline had surpassed for rescheduling (or cancelling), Amit had called and enquired about our health and my intention to continue with the catering, this is very exemplary as most business have a transactional attitude rather than value for customer relationship.
As usual, the food was amazing, surplus and very well prepared to cater for the party. Friends and family loved the dishes prepared by Casey Spice Affairs team. We now know why this restaurant in Canberra is #1 for Indian catering and #2 in All categories. We wish Amit and team all success and more business in the years to come.
Regards,
Arvind + family

We travel a lot for work and rely on Trip Advisor to find the best food in each town. This restaurant probably has the highest rating I have ever seen on that site and it didn't disappoint. Online booking was easy and was followed up by SMS confirmation a few minutes later. On arrival, we were quickly ushered to our table and given a few complimentary papadums as a taster. Service was superb as was the food and wine. The menu is incredibly detailed with the ingredients and appears to be very suitable for anyone with dietary restrictions. Wine list is limited, but excellent and features a few excellent wines from local suppliers. On paying the bill we were giving a few minted chocolates which was a nice end to a memorable meal !!!
