We'd visited The Dark Horse twice before, once for a drink and then lunch - and were delighted with the food. We went for evening dinner last week (with a Groupon voucher) hoping for an equally delicious meal but were disappointed. We were given a...More

We visited this restaurant this evening due to being given a Groupon voucher as a birthday present (do not go here unless you have been GIVEN a voucher for this place as you will be wasting your money). The staff are unorganised and inattentive without...More

We visited yesterday (hottest June day since 1976), arriving just after 1 pm. The 2 waitresses were excellent and really welcoming. We were offered the new lunch menu of 2 courses for £13.50. For starters I chose the sardines whilst both ladies chose the button...More

We only found this restaurant because of a "Groupon". Set in the stables and coach house of a country house on a large estate it is off the beaten track. The menu is small but varied with something to suit most tastes. The staff are...More

Second time I have visited but it's under new management so was interesting. My friends and I were using a Groupon voucher but were treated no different by the young courteous staff. No one had starters but the choice tho limited (it's changed regularly) looked...More

The surroundings were lovely, although not much of an atmosphere as we were the only people there! We sat outside which was nice and enjoyed a nice starter and main. The food was good and the young waitress was very friendly and attentive. I would...More

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
The parking area at The Dark Horse was not very well sign-posted and as a result when my wife and I arrived there intending to have lunch we were confronted by a very annoyed man in army fatigues who was clearly angry about where we had parked. He was very intimidating to say the least and was very rude when I offered an apology! I think this needs to be addressed as instead of staying for lunch we made a hasty exit!!

Agree with all the above, lets hope the proprietor reads the reviews and does something to help new customers. Not everybody reads Trip Adviser as they should when they go somewhere new.
