Good meal and not overpriced. Food was well presented and staff were helpful. It's worth a visit, even if it is not on the main road.

Never having visited the Dark Horse before, nor having had afternoon tea either, I decided to rectify both with a visit on my husband's birthday today. Everything was wonderful. The Dark Horse Restaurant is the old stables on the Stowlangtoft estate with the main house now being a care home. Our afternoon tea was really lovely and my husband very... More

Where to start, as I had heard so many good things about the place. We were a party of 7, and the restaurant wasn't busy, us, as only two other tables occupied. We ordered 2 lamb Sunday roasts, 2 beef Sunday roasts, the venison sausages, a steak & chips and pig and fish (belly pork and sea food) Food took... More

Since discovering this delightful restaurant a while ago I visit as often as I can with friends and family . We've enjoyed a few birthday celebrations here and we all love the food and the atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Turned out to the Dark Horse at 1:30 today and was all locked up - nothing about closure on website or even on the door! We try to support local small concerns - so at least have the courtesy to publicise your variations to your publicised opening hours. You have lost us as customers.

The building was beautiful, the bar was exquisite, however, the restaurant was plain and uninviting, clean but decoration was unwelcoming. The Christmas decorations had seen better days, and there was I believe a very "small" i.e., miniature Christmas tree. Staff were brilliant, the food average - needs more imagination. My starter was over cooked but immediately replaced upon request. Dessert... More

Me and my partner have been here on numerous occasions, we have sampled several different dishes and have had some amazing food at a good price. Lovely place in a nice setting, fairly consistent. Worth a visit if you haven't so already.

Again the food was excellent and well presented the staff were friendly and helpful.it was quit busy this Saturday lunch time but the attention by staff was excellent. We booked again for a evening dinner in December. And will probably call in for lunch when we stay in one of the estate cottages for a few days in November.
