On a perfect day weather wise we enjoyed a very enjoyable A La Carte Sunday lunch at this venue, as did many others as the restaurant was busy.
Before the luncheon we experienced the cellar door wine tasting and as a Wine Club member it was a treat to taste the wines which we don’t normally order.
Of the three settings for dining , of the rustic dining under the vines, or on the covered verandah or inside the building, however we were pleased that we elected the veranda with our booking, as it wasn’t very noisy and there was a pleasant breeze.
The menu is good reading, and besides the history of the winery, which is an interesting story, the choices of meals was a delight.
We chose the shark bay scallops with the preserved lemon, spiced quinoa and Ancho chilli dressing, as a starter entree. It had a good kick to it which complemented the bland scallop taste.
For our mains we both chose the special of the day of the 250g sirloin steak, with green beans, sweet potato galette with onion jam and a red wine jus.
Excellent, and cooked to our liking.
Unusual for us, we embarked on a third course of a shared cheese platter. We chose two of the three cheeses on offer, of the English Cheddar and the SA Brie. The presentation of the cheese platter was a work of art, with every accompaniment possible. However, we fell a little short of the challenge in completing but it was very enjoyable.
We selected the new 1870 range wines from the menu and enjoyed the Chenin Blanc to start and then followed by the Cabernet Merlot.
The service was of a high standard and could not be faulted. Thank you.
A memorable experience and very pleasant for a luncheon. Certainly recommended .

I attended a networking event hosted by Sandalford. A wonderful space allowing plenty of opportunity to mingle. The canapes were delicious and there were some gluten free options too. The staff were very attentive and actively sought me out when there were gluten free offerings. I was super impressed with the staff and food and will definitely be back to experience the restaurant.

Four of us were booked for my birthday lunch by a good friend, who was with us. From arrival to departure the staff were so friendly and obliging. We were offered a complimentary wine tasting at the start and a discount on any purchases so we started there and then into lunch for food that was perfection on a plate.
Octopus, foccacia and burrato to start were all great.
For mains we experienced Lamb rump, golden band snapper fish of the day and Cape Grim beef and the sides of potato and chargrilled sprouts were incredible. The beef was just amazing, the lamb was 'to die for' said my Wife.
Entremet, cheescake and cheeses followed, all superb.
We didn't think portions were small and we enjoyed having room for 3 wonderful courses.
Wines were just right.
The maitre'd and staff in the restaurant and cellar door made the day.
And a small but delightful happy birthday cheescake.

Sandalfords has long been our favourite for wedding anniversary’s and birthdays, unfortunately we will be seeking a new venue after waiting with anticipation to trial the new venue/renovations. We waited too long for service and reasonable expectations (like for the wine to be delivered to be enjoyed with the main meal) seem to be beyond the capacity of the new venue. The
new model seems to have overlooked most of the key features that have long provided, a consistent, pleasurable dining experience. The only positive from our experience today was the staff acknowledgement of what they were unable to deliver. Hopefully things will improve in the coming months, but in the meantime, our experience was a shadow of our former favourite. We won’t be back any time soon.

We have visited Sandleford many times and have had somewhat mixed experiences. So it was very nice to see the recent refurbishments and the re-vamped menu.
We shared some Tasmanian oysters which was delicious and I had the special wagyu special which was very good and almost melted in the mouth.
Service was really good and their estate wines are excellent and good value. The only negative was being charged a fee for paying with a credit card. I find this very irritating especially with increased use of cards because of Covid which should be encouraged.

The venue is promoted and priced as fine dining but our Christmas Eve experience was anything but that. Upon arrival I ordered a glass of their very excellent 1840 Chenin Blanc and MrsV ordered her usual mocktail while we mulled over the menu. We opted to just have mains and desert. The waiter was friendly and helpful in choosing our dishes but after taking our order we didn’t see him for the rest of the night! The venue was not very busy so our mains arrived quickly and before we’d received our drinks. Having chosen steaks I cancelled my white wine order and replaced it with a red. The drinks arrived halfway through our meal. My medium-rare striploin ($46) was cooked medium and MrsV’s medium wagyu ($56) was medium-rare. We couldn’t send it back because there was no waiter to be seen so we swapped dishes. The wagyu was delicious but the striploin a bit chewy. We would have had another drink and some dessert but with no waiter to take our order we just left. When paying the bill I queried the lack of service and was told they were understaffed. Yes, staffing has been an issue faced by all hospitality venues lately but if they can’t provide the service they should reduce the prices or the number of diners. We live quite close to Sandalford so will probably come back but not for a very long while.

This has become our "go to" for a special friends get together and once again this year this is exactly what we have done. In a very beautifully maintained setting in the Swan Valley the fabulous restaurant is there and waiting for the very friendly staff to greet and serve you (and spoil you). Everyone enjoyed the food and so much so we all agreed it was the best meal we had eaten since the last time we were there. It was fantastic. The deserts were to die for and the beautiful wines are amazing. Having never been much of a Verdelho fan I most certainly have changed my tune for the Sandalford Verdelho was just stunning. A wonderful time had by all. See you again soon

Dear Victoria & the amazing staff,
I want you to know how much I appreciate the excellent service you provided on Sunday the 11th of April when I took my friends out for lunch to celebrate my birthday. Victoria was able to organize a table for 12 people in two hours notice. The staff were friendly and professionals and provided service with a smile. Everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks. We had such a great time. Thank you again.
Your happy customer,
Emmy

Delightful upscale winery restaurant in the Swan Valley. Lovely décor inside and out. We ate indoors because it was too hot for the terrace. Very sophisticated menu, so much so that it almost seems that some of it is contrived for linguistic effect. It is also rather expensive. Nevertheless, the food was tasty and the service efficient and pleasant. We shared a zucchini flower tempura and I followed with a very tasty red snapper at $50. Generally, everything we had was very tasty but overly contrived and complicated with too many different flavours. It was as if you recognized everything on the dish you were ordering they had failed. A serious foodie might revel in this. Me, not so much. But I don’t want to leave the impression that this was anything but an enjoyable lunch. We won’t be back; we will look for something simpler.

Flew into Perth and went to Sandalfords before checking in as it was close to the airport.
Lovely entry into the vineyard. The restaurant is rather large and the dining area needs a complete revamp. It lacks charisma and ambiance. We had the Summer Tasting menu which was ordinary. The turkish bread was pretty ordinary and the signature dish of confit of duck lacked flavour. Th risotto was bland.
Service was excellent

Sandalford Restaurant has offered very good hospitality for a long time. Impressive renovations have been carried out to the restaurant and surrounding facilities in recent times making the visit to Sandalford Winery a pleasurable experience in itself. We did not book but were immediately offered a table, a pre-lunch free wine tasting and had our Covid19 vaccination status confirmed; all done in a most pleasant manner.
The tasting was informative and assisted us to select our luncheon wines. After the tasting we were quickly seated, offered water and menus and told of the luncheon specials. At all times the service was courteous and informative. The food was excellent; we chose the Cape Grim beef and the prawn pizza. Both were perfectly cooked; the beef medium rare and the pasta crust light and very tasty and the accompanying salads were well constructed, tasty and fresh. The food was a highlight.
The venue was popular as it deserves to be. The facilities, staff and quality of the offering were all very good to excellent and it is easy to recommend to visitors to the Swan Valley.

Lovely day spent with my family, being a new mum is tough as travelling to certain places may not always mean we will get there on time but staff at Sandleford have been so accomodating even though we were 15min late. The food was devine though we would have liked to see more vegetarian options as my husband is a vegetarian.
I had the lamb which was absolutely devine.
The ambience is lovely and the wines are delightful as I purchased 2 Shiraz bottles from the reserve tasting. We will be back!

Wow, we have just had the most delightful lunch, 4 very happy people enjoyed the best meal of very high quality that is possible. The seafood was so fresh it melted in your mouth, steaks of quality and perfectly cooked that they also melted in you mouth, and of course deserts and coffee just finished the afternoon.
The wines were fabulous and served perfectly.
The staff were so friendly and efficient it was a joy to have their smiles and happy disposition at the table, of course not only to us but everyone in the restaurant. They never stopped.
Congratulations on a wonderful experience we had over lunch. Highly recommended.
Thank you.

In 2018 I headlined a review of lunch at Sandalford: "Consummate professionalism in food and service". Three years on and a major refurbishment later that standard has been maintained, if not bettered. From the Kalamata olive, garlic and herb-baked feta accompaniment to the foccacia for starters through to the baked meringue, South West honeycomb, calamansi, seasonal berries for sweets with the most tender, flavoursome piece of rump lamb for mains in between, this was a most memorable meal. Service was warm, friendly, and quite quick given the restaurant was almost full. Service for the wine tastings was of the same high standard. As another reviewer has written and our experiences three years apart have shown, Sandalford is a place you could go back to confidently again and again and enjoy every aspect each time.

I took my partner to Sandalford for a romantic birthday dinner and definitely got that. It was a wet and cold winter’s night and as it was a birthday dinner the staff gave us a lovely table next to the open fire. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful without being overbearing, the food was sensational and of course fabulous Sandalford wine to match. I’ve had lunch or dinner on several occasions and they never disappoint.
