I wanted to like El 13 in Caceres. My wife and I went for a leisurely dinner and ordered their tasting menu. The food was adequate, certainly not deserving IMHO of the high ranking in TA. The service was rushed, the staff being overwhelmed by...not that many tables, and we had to ask that they not rush our food, something we have not had to do before in over 3 weeks in Spain. Then to add insult to injury, when the bill came, the amount was converted to dollars without my being asked or permission given. In case some of the readers are not aware, banks are notorious for trying you to accept your home currency before converting for you, only to have it converted back a second time by your home bank, in essence an extra 3-5% charger to the home user. Always accept the home currency, in this case the Euro, but either the server just made that choice for me, to my disadvantage, or the restaurant did so to their benefit. Either way, it just added to the feeling, that we should have gone elsewhere.More

This excellent value for money restaurant offers a modern take on traditional local food, along with a few innovative surprises (a dessert with a Lea and Perrin sauce ). We had a six course meat oriented tasting menu with wine, bread, water and coffee costing...just under 30 Euros a head. The food was all excellent and the service friendly and efficient.More

Probably the best meal we had on our 2018 trip. Don't be put off by the frontage, walk down the corridor to where it turns into an airy terrace. Sit down. Amongst other things on the menu there are a number of rice dishes, we...had Arroz Marinera with clams and I think squid. Comes in a big pot for two people to share. Very high quality, delicious. Starters were fresh vegetables a la plancha and a tartar of salmon with strawberries and mango. Amazing. I wish this restaurant was near me in London. Good wine list, we had a local(ish) white, Alunado (Ribera de Guadiana), very good. Prices for food and wine very reasonable. Can't fault this place. If you're in Caceres, just go a few times.More

The TripAdvisor raves are deserved. Sparkling fresh food- the straight forward, delicious Spanish cooking we have been searching for on our trip. Yes, you walk through a series of small unimpressive rooms to get out to a spacious terrace. Besides the usual ham in ten...different guises, there are lots of salads and vegetable-based things that are a welcome break from the heavy food we have been eating. The vegetable (paella) rice and the chicken-mushroom risotto were both big wins at our table. Service, food, wine choices- this place hits all the marks.More

Great place with excellent food. Next to the regional ‘classics’, also some more surprising dishes. Very friendly staff. Really one of the best Spanish restaurants we have visited so far.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at el 13. Excellent selection of rice dishes which is their speciality. Their tasting menu also looked very good. Very attentive service. Nice ambiance. Would definitely recommend and will certainly go back.

It might look like a tiny place from the outside but as soon as you step inside you are just amazed. Great ambiance , amazing service and the food just spectacular. Plenty of items to choose from. Suggestion would be chose the Menu Del Día;...it gives three choices of appetizer , other three choose for main dish and few more choices fir dessert. Choose one from each . Presentation and taste is just great.More
