I have been at this pub many times on various visits to Ireland. Every time, there has been the most excellent traditional Irish music available. Oddly, none of the hotel or B&B staff ever recommend McDermott's - I think they all tend to recommend their own properties or friends'. However, most folks eventually do find this pub, and it can... My wife and had great food ( lamb shank) and excellent service at McDermott's Pub in doolin on a very busy night. We were lucky enough to see Blackie O'Connell on the Uilleann Pipe and his band mates who provided the best music we saw on our 10 day trip to Ireland. Thanks to Maeve at Churchfield B&B for making... More

Best seafood chowder & brown bread. And of course the Guinness was wonderful, too! Local hangout, less touristy.

I went to several restaurants and cafes during my 9-day stay in Doolin... most of them twice. O'Connor's was good, Fitzgerald's more than good, but McDermott's was outstanding. My son joined me for the last three days and we intended to go to McGann's to try the fish and chips... but as we walked towards McGann's my son said... We... More

Good beer, decent food. Live music, lots of seating, some in quieter rooms. When we were there, a local hen party came in, which ended up being great fun.

We went to McDermott's on the recommendation of our B&B's owner who raved about the stew and the lamb shank. Still feeling our jet lag, we were there earlier than we usually like to have dinner but they were ready to serve. What a dinner it was! We had vegetable soup and chowder as starters. The chowder in particular was... More

Was on a bus tour of Cliffs of Moher, I know why the tour company stops here, just a lovely lunch. I had the carved Irish beef, so tender and flavourful, served with two types of potatoes (look, this is Ireland, accept that you will gain weight on your trip enjoying the good Irish food, but it is worth it).... Pub food is a great part of the Irish vacation experience. This pub food was terrific! The best of local fare, authentic, & hearty. The location was perfect & it is a place frequented by the locals; always a good sign!

We were coming back to Galway after spending the day at the Cliffs of Moher. We were tired, hungry, and needed a break from the wind, rain, and drive. We chanced into Doolin and picked the pub with the red door. It turned out to be the best pub in Ireland. At first we were the only ones there, we... More
