The most amazing place to dine in. You have to see the decor to believe anyone would do this!!! The food is delicious and such generous potions!! The staff are lovely. People travel many miles and hours just to experience and wonder at such a quirky place.

This is a bit of a local legend in this part of Ireland. Situated on the main road into the Cooley peninsula, it has a large car park which is always full- often a very good sign. As you leave your car you walk past various artefacts which are always changing depending on the time of year. My favourite are... More

I had resolved not to go back to Fitzpatricks after I'd lost the will to live with the slow service last time we went to dinner. However we were dying to see the owl in the petting zoo so popped in for lunch. It wasn't busy at all and there were plenty of staff but you could say they weren't... More

I am sorry to read that you where disappointed at my restaurant, we are no different than many rural pubs and restaurants in Ireland that staff need to have their own transport to get to work and home again as the bus service is not running at different times of day and night. On that particular day we just barely... More

Hi Catherine,

Firstly I would like to apologise to you and your party for what happened on the day that you visited Fitzpatrick’s. Secondly I try not to get involved in what’s right and wrong in public I do prepare to address these issues in private. I don’t reply too many of the comments made on this open forum (trip advisor), but in this case I feel compelled to stand up for my restaurant and staff over your thoughtless comments.

Your headline “Never will be back..what has happened to this place???” Maybe that would have been an excellent question to ask on the night in question with I will address now. I saw what you described as ..”a white mass plus what looked like either a white hair or thread (long) was baked into the bread” as I was on site in the night in question. It was not a hair or a thread but the seal of the flour bag up to now I don’t know how it got there as the flour is sieved to make the bread and it should not have been there but at no stage did any member of my staff put it there on purpose as every member of my kitchen staff and front of house are trained to meet very high health and hygiene standards I would personally like to meet you as you are so obviously perfect and have never made a mistake in your life.

I am heading into my 22 year in business here at Fitzpatrick’s and in all of those years we have we have had up until now only one instance of an item found in the bread. I am sure you will agree this is an excellent record.

I train my staff to do a good job at all times to their best of their abilities we strive to achieve a very high standard of service here at Fitzpatrick’s. On the night in question that you visited two members of my staff that were due to work were out due to illness, this created huge stress and pressure on the night. It was not a perfect service and some service standards did slip due to circumstances beyond our control. I can’t close the doors because two staff call in sick, my team banded together and tried their hardest to get through what was a very busy service. For example if Dublin football team had three players injured on All Ireland final day the manager is not happy but he would field the best team possible if they lose by three goals at least they turned up for the game played sure they lost but they did the best they could .

Running a bar and restaurant is very difficult, the staff turnover is very high. Consistency is a very hard thing to get right and maintain, without having to deal with social media sites who enable people to become key board warriors. We try very hard on a daily basis to welcome people to provide them with good service, to enjoy the Fitzpatrick’s experience. I would like to ask you if you went to the cinema and the film was delayed for 15 minutes or if you bought a loaf of bread in the shop and it was stale or if you got your car serviced and they did not fix it right would you go on line and slate the business’s and its staff in question. These kind of sites particularly target restaurants and not the type of business’s I have listed above i.e. the cinema the shop and the garage. You had a genuine complaint on the night but as I say we like to deal with things personally had you have given my staff a chance. These kind of reviews on trip advisor reflect very badly on not only my business but my staff who work so hard to try and achieve perfection with sometimes very little thanks

I employ 58 people at my restaurant and comments and headlines like your own is sole destroying to each and every member of staff. It is so disrespectful to read comments like these. A simple phone call or an email would have got a lot more respect. I notice that you reviewed us in 2012 (three years ago) it was a very positive review but by your own admission you have been here many times why not review us on the other visits you have had in the three years. I can assure you that my business has not gone downhill. But your comments make us stronger and push us to achieve our goals. Sorry your friend nearly got sick but it was not done on purpose it was a MISTAKE!!! My restaurant is busy every day and we run a waiting list to try and seat everybody if the place has gone downhill that badly I would have an empty restaurant no waiting list no staff and no business thank god the word has not got out yet!!! My family and my staff try so hard to make everyone’s experience an enjoyable one that you will want to return to every day of the year. . I do invite people to write comments and reviews if the place is dirty, staff being ignorant or not being pleasant this kind of feedback can be turned into a positive but a complaint like your own could have been dealt with on the night or privately

Thank You

Danny Fitzpatrick
