This is a very traditional irish pub, on almost every evning traditional irish music is played. The music is rather loud, but if you really like irish music, then you will like this, as well. The food is mostly good, I ate todays vegetarian option, wich was potato gratin with cheese and and a side salad. They also serve fish... More

A warm and snug tavern, with really excellent food, incorporating products from the nearby Burren Smokehouse in the menu, the locally produced cold smoked salmon is amazing, and the best we have ever eaten. The entire menu was interesting, and our choice of food was hot, fresh and really delicious. Friendly staff, great service and lovely ambience, we thoroughly recommend... More

The roadside Tavern was recommended to my group for dinner the day we arrived in Lisdoonvarna. After seeing the Cliffs of Moher in very good weather- another wise recommendation by our B&B hostess we enjoyed great food and three different local micro brewed beers. The service and quality of food and drinks was outstanding. We enjoyed dinner at the Roadside... More

Travel day, on our way to Galway from Killarney...care of the Cliffs of Moher. In-house beers, fresh made food...we shared the Ploughman's Sandwich and soup de jour. Sandwich masterfully composed of home cooked (i.e. not deli) ham, Award Winning Burren Gouda, pickles, and finished with a brown sauce made from a recipe over 100 years old!!! Not good enough? How... Chowder lamb burger and smoked salmon. 3 meals very very 😊. Staff nice and helpful and nice friendly barman. Guinness very good and keenly priced at 4.10. Lagers as in Heinekan etc bit over priced at 4.80! Didn't try any micro brews

We arrived late one afternoon to sit in this delightful pub with a young pianist playing as we ordered our beverages and meals with a cold plate from the smoke house next door. This place is a gem! Every meal was delicious we ordered several different items and shared them all. DELICIOUS! and within walking distance of our hotel. I'd... More

Good enough choice and helpful staff, however one customer joined the paid piano performer and very loudly sang (badly) whitney houston songs and you couldn't talk with it or hear yourself think - I wish the staff had the sense to politely ask him to sit down but we had to go up twice and request he lower the volume... I have not been in a pub like this in a long time. Decorated with postcards that look as old as the pub, wooden floors and a good atmosphere this harks back to what pubs back in the UK used to be like. The bar staff were great and very friendly and gave us a small sample as my husband... More

We were too late too eat dinner. As with most Irish pubs/bars food isn't served after 9:00. But for the drinks, authentic live Irish music main , and meeting great friends, it's superb. Exactly the authentic Irish pub experience we are looking for.

In spring 2011, Peter Curtin embarked on a new
endeavour: He set up the Burren Brewery in the Roadside Tavern in Lisdoonvarna. The building, which in 1865 started off as a pub, then was expanded into a bakery, now also harbours a micro-brewery under its roof. At the same time it is an eatery and a renowned music venue for traditional and contemporary music. Peter realised very quickly how complicated and time-consuming it was to brew his own beer - it really is a labour of love. He enrolled the help of a Master Brewer, and the result can now be tasted in the Roadside Tavern: The Burren Gold is a delicious, characterful lager. The mainstream lagers available every-where just cannot compete with this one!The Burren Red with its great red colour is a spicy, slightly sweet ale which even features a hint of smoke. It seems to become the favourite among the punters at the Roadside! The Burren Black is a stout that does not have to fear the competition of a certain other black stuff. It is smooth and full-bodied, with a creamy crown of froth on top - and definitely alive inside! A heavenly drink.
