I had dinner at "The Oar House" on Saturday, 3 June. The restaurant is conveniently located on Howth's West Pier. I had not called to make a reservation, but the staff were very kind to do their best to find a table for me anyway....More

Value for money wasn't good at all, maybe because we're Spanish and we're not use to these excessive prices. The Dublin bay prawns were very average and the dish was 28€! I mean, we knew the prices in advance and we were happy to pay...More

Out with a pal for lunch we ordered fish and chips and the food was fine if a little on the small side. The downside was the loud music which we asked to have turned down but the reduction if any was not discernible.

When we were in Ireland in March we ate at the restaurant next door (Octopussy - excellent fish tapas, highly recommended as well), we noticed this restaurant when leaving and thought it looked good. On this trip, we wanted a more substantial meal, so decided...More

Simply the prefect place for a nice seafood experience, the atmosphere is vibrant and the menu has something for everyone. Right on the seafront, it felt like we were abroad, such a rare thing in our country. The hubby and kiddo and myself were all...More

We had a drink and a couple of their 'small plates' - like tapas. We sat outside on one of the few tables. There was 1 bottle of Rose wine on the menu which was a d'Anjou and delicious. We had the calamari and prawns...More

American English is my native language. The Irish-even with the lovely lilt with which they speak English, are very understandable. Yet-something apparently became lost in translation when I placed my meal order at the Oar House. After asking the server whether she would recommend the...More
