We had a lovely meal in Sol on Saturday evening last. I was a bit doubtful even though I knew the food would be fine. We , all four of us were very pleased with the service which was friendly and efficient, the food which was delicious and the atmosphere which was buzzing without being oppressive. They were queuing out... More

The dinner menu included a delicious vegetarian main course option (Halloumi & herb cake) as well as sea bream and sirloin steak. The food was lovely but the coffee less so! The waiter/manager was friendly and helpful. Bistro Sol turned out to be a good choice for a lovely relaxed meal with friends on a wet and windy February evening.... More

We ate at Sol Bistro two nights in a row when we were on vacation and staying in Thomastown. From what we found, it is really the only choice for a high quality evening meal in Thomastown. Both nights we were very happy with the menu choices for the early bird menu.

Looking for a relaxed early dinner, we found the Sol Bistro to be perfect. A delicious menu - I had courgette, Haloumi, carrot and herb cakes with chilli jam and a lovely salad, but I chose some perfectly cooked green vegetables to go with it. There was a great wine list, with a range of wines also available by the... More

Food is stunningly good, try the haloumi, great! Service was ok, a little brusque! Wine was good as well.

We screeched in just before the kitchen closed. The place has a good wine list. The food is comfort food but not too heavy - exactly what we were looking for. I had some tasty fried halloumi cakes and salad. My companion had lamb and loved it. It's friendly with a good vibe. Service is efficient. Prices very reasonable. Just... More

Sol Bistro in Thomastown, like its sister restaurant in Kilkenny City, offers fabulously fresh local food served with a Mediterranean twist. Recommended by The McKennas Guide and Georgina Campbell's Ireland Guide. Sol Bistro is located in the centre of Thomastown on Low Street, just up from the Post office and between O'Hara's and Eddie Murphy's.
