If you want good quality no-nonsense food at reasonable prices served by friendly staff in a cheerful efficient way this is the place to go. Good food just like your mother used to make.

During a recent trip to Castletownbere we were very disappointed to find that Murphy's restaurant was closed for the foreseeable future.

We dropped into Murphy's bar on recommendation from friends. In no way were we disappointed. It had a friendly welcoming atmosphere and was a 'true' Irish bar. The Guinness was exceptional. We hadn't had such a good pint for a long time. Unfortunately we had to travel onwards, otherwise many more would have been enjoyed.

My dad and I ate here three nights in a row. Every meal was fantastic, beautiful fresh fish and lovely desserts also. The service was friendly and efficient and all at a very reasonable price. John the owner made us feel very at home and we looked forward to eating there each night. We will absolutely return and I recommend... More

Good homemade meal served with a smile. A favorite of the locals. We had local caught salmon and a delicious fish chowder. Ate every drop!

Visted here after travelling half of the Ring of Beara. We were staying outside town in Summer Hill (recommended) and this place was mentioned regards the value aspect. We did look around a number of other venues to eat but kept coming back here, especially after we went to the Labster bar which didn't even have lobster! The food, although... More

Stopped for dinner while driving Ring of Beara. The place is very family oriented and Cozy. I was suggested to try the Hake and it was terrific one of the best I have eaten much more superior than other more expensive and well heeled places.

Hubbie and I stopped for a nice lunch at Murphys. He ordered the mussels to start which he raved about. We both had the Haddock, chips and salad. The fish was a bit overcooked but the flavor was delicious. I especially appreciated the nice assorted salad that was both colorful and fresh. Service was adequate. We chose this restaurant based... Stopped in for a lite supper. Got seated immediately and ordered seafood meals. Wanted a pint of Murhpy's, which they didn't have, but the waitress ran across the street and got my beer fro.m the pub and brought it back. That's service. Prices were reasonable. Food was not exceptional, but was satisfactory. Good parking next door.
