Out walking and dropped in here for lunch and thank heavens we did for we had a lovely meal. We both chose off the black board dish of the day menu starting off with a really tasty carrot and coriander soup which was much above your average pub soup. We followed this with pan fried sea bass which was beautifully... More

We visited the Red Lion for lunch on a cold wet winter's day and could have stayed there all day. The food was excellent and there were roaring log fires in each of the intimate (small) rooms of the pub. Dogs were very welcome (in all but one of the rooms) and there were several well kept cask ales. One... More

I ordered a steak and ale pie with chips - the pie was tasteless with undercooked pastry and I am certain it was shop bought/frozen and the chips accompanying the pie also tasted like they had come out of a packed. My partner ordered the lamb shank with mash - the mash also tasted as though it was out of... More

Walked to The Red Lion from Tideswell with 2 dogs. Real fires and a lovely welcome on a grey November day. The 2 dogs exceptionally welcomed being given biscuits from the Landlady ! Had a lovely lunch of roast beef sandwiches and chips .. Will definitely visit again.

Booked for Friday night dinner for 5 of us, as staying in the village. Excellent service and food absolutely delicious plus good value for money. Staff very attentive and friendly.

called again today at this lovely country pub and had the roast pork dinner. Lovely and hot, plenty of it and beautifully served. Had the homemade sticky toffee pudding to finish. This was to die for. Will be back again soon

Called here on a miserable rainy October day & was welcomed into a traditional English pub with a roaring open fire. Food was top quality & served with a smile. Well kept good range of real ale. Highly recommended.

This is a delightful 18th century inn ,however the landlady/barmaid/waitress was trying to cope with a parties 0f 14and 8 for lunch as well as occasional drinker. We waited one and a half hours to be served. My sautéed veg were swimming in fat or oil and I soaked up the excess with my napkin to no avail was all the veg... My family and I are staying in the village in a small cottage (conveniently across from the pub!) We decided to come here for Sunday lunch (25th October). Upon approaching the establishment the door was opened by a member of staff and we were greeted by a warm smile and a cheerful welcome. Upon entering the pub we instantly felt... More

The epitome of the country pub with a warm welcome, a good range of beers and truly excellent food. Because of these attractions, the pub does get busy at weekends and holidays and pre-booking for meals at these times is advised to avoid disappointment. Situated on a pleasant village green, the location is ideal and is an easy walk from... More
