This pub is in a lovely position right by the river. We stopped here for a bite of lunch during a long walk and managed to nab a nice outdoor table on the top terrace area. Our party had a combination of fish and chips, lamb burger and sausage and mash. Everyone was pleased with their meals and we were... More

Partner and I went for a Sunday stroll on a lovely day with the intention of stopping here for a Sunday lunch on the route we had chosen. Unfortunately they have stopped doing Sunday lunches due to popular demand for burgers etc. Had a drink and walked back to their sister pub The New Inn at Freshford (which we had... More

Popped in for lunch on a sunny week day. Food came out quick and was very enjoyable. Plenty of room to take a pushchair. Staff were very friendly too!

Stumbled upon this place after a country walk and it did not disappoint. The pub is in a beautiful setting and has clearly been carefully decorated to fit with the landscape. The selection of food and drink on offer was phenomenal (I've never seen such a well stocked bar!) and the atmosphere is lovely. The real selling point is the... More

We stopped at the Cross Guns for lunch with our 4yr old daughter. To start with, it's a stunning location. Nestled between a river at the front and canal at the back, the terraced outdoor tables have an amazing view. Inside its warm and welcoming. It looks to be a very old building with thick stone walls and twisting beams,... More

What a gem ! My son was visiting me from London and wanted to go to Bath , but had heard about this pub near Bradford on Avon tucked away but in a most beautiful setting on the side of the Kennet and Avon canal. We tried to drive there but realised there was no access by car which adds... More

Perfect place to stop if you are on a narrowboat on the canal. Nearby, the waterfalls on the Avon, the spectacular aqueduct, and lots of barges passing by. The food is good, the staff friendly, perhaps a bit overpriced for an English country pub.

Yet another old haunt with gallons of history and character turned into a gastro soy latte yuppie hell hole. Some very fine beers and ciders replaced with every sparkly bottle of booze you can buy and mass produced Thatchers gold. Not really worth the walk from BOA to be fair. I was heart broken to see the water jugs gone.... More

Very enjoyable evening. Lovely atmosphere inside with Great bar staff.Lots of seating outside. It was busy with canal path walkers and dogs. We didn't have any food but the menu looked good so we will be back! Bring coins for the canal car park and be careful driving down the narrow hair pin bends.
