i visited here back in the summer and i know its not the pubs fault but to witness customers relieving themselves in the river at the bottom of the garden is very off putting and not nice to see! apart from that lovely pub, great views, nice place to have a drink between walks

We stopped here for a drink. The pub has a lot of charm and character inside the bar. The ceiling is covered in whisky water jugs which make quite an impressive display. The beer garden is at the from of the pub with quite steep steps leading down to the river. There are several levels with seating. However the seating... More

We drank here a couple of times during a three night stay up the road in Westwood. The pub was decent, all staff were helpful and friendly. The beer was good and well kept. The interior could use a but of a spruce up perhaps, but I have seen a lot worse. people were eating there whilst we were present... More

Dropped in to the Cross Guns for dinner and beers as part of my Stag weekend. The Pub is in a breathtaking location, and serves a great selection of ales. The menu has a nice variety to suit all and is beautifully served. Great food!! Finally, Ken the Landlord, such a fine gentleman! Thank you for having us at your... More

I really enjoyed our visit to this pub. We stayed for an evening during a trip on a canal boat and we found Kenneth very funny, helpful and tolerant. Some nice ales and ciders behind the bar. We even noticed how nice the scenery was when we stopped for a beer and a snack on the way back Would definitely... More

A new experience on the canal but thankfully many good restaurants and pubs on the way. Had a particular good evening on a dank night the food was plentiful beer and wine a good choice available and service just right not hurried, will return hopefully by road, but to be recommended

We stopped on a walk along the canal to get a light snack - choice was limited but settled for Ploughman's Lunch- To say it was minimalist would be an understatement.. supermarket cheddar, a slice of unappetizing bread (no butter ) and a sprinkling of leaves from a salad pack- No table service outside, so had to listen for the... The menu was designed for the week except Sunday which was not mentioned during the week when booking the table. After ordering the food on the menu I asked for 10 ounce stake When it arrived on the plate I as a qualified butcher found that the 10 once stake to start of with was not 10 once more like... More

Very busy place, for walkers and families, but standards should be higher. Dirty kitchen, floor dirty, food prep staff should wear hair nets or hats, no licking fingers!. Long haired waitresses access to kitchen should be barred or head covered. Fly screen dome/ Metal Mesh Food Cover should be used to cover pots condiments left uncovered, full of flies. Its... More
