EXTREMELY disappointed! We’ve had reservations for this restaurant for months, got told the day before flying there (today) that myself only out of a party of 10 was not allowed to eat there (outside), because I’m unvaccinated. I am pregnant. I have 2 negative tests...and told them I would do another one that day. I have my pregnancy lab results printed out. I have antibodies from getting severely sick last summer (my husband is an ICU Charge Nurse) this is our FIRST big trip in 2 years because of canceling several trips in the past because of my husband running the ICU through ALL of this. I’ve reached out to them several times in these weeks making sure I wouldn’t run into a problem. And tonight, they call me the day before flying there that I’m NOT allowed on their property. All I want to do is eat💜 I’ve been dreaming about their menu. This really is not how this pregnant mama wanted to start this vacation 😔😔😢 it would have been nice if the manager was understanding and compassionate…but sadly she was not. This isn’t the Maui I remember and love 💜More

Great food. On our second visit, Lauren got us in at the bar (otherwise fully booked) and it was fabulous. Great view. I had the Chow Fun Noodle appetizer and it was so tasty. Lamb chop entree was perfectly cooked and delicious. Chewy (Sp?) was...our server and bartender. Very friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed talking to him. My wife had the seafood and chose a different preparation from our earlier visit and did not like it as much. Chewy took her entree off our bill! I could not believe it. It is expensive but I think it’s the best dining experience we’ve had in the area - why we went twice! You have to have the malasadas dessert!More

Complimentary valet was much appreciated. Social distancing of tables was evident, however, they would not allow our party of 8 to be seated together citing that they could only allow seating for up to 6 to a table. We were forced to split up our...party to 4 and 4. Most unfortunate as we were celebrating our friend’s birthday. To Merriman’s: (I don’t believe the restaurant would have been “shut-down” for seating our party of 8 together and out of respect for your policy (though unbelievable), we split up our party for outdoor dining) “PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY RULES EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 15, 2021 Rule 3: Social gatherings. Indoor social gatherings of up to 5 persons are permitted and outdoor social gatherings of up to 10 persons are permitted.” The pre-fixed menu has great options though the price was not evident on the electronic menu. Complimentary amuse-bouche (watermelon gazpacho) was refreshing. The appetizers and main courses were served at the right temperature and mostly at the same time. Service was attentive and friendly. Both tables coordinated champagne and wine orders. The sommelier instructed our server to pour more wine into our glasses and it wasn’t till after the wine was poured that we caught that a different wine ($250/bottle) was poured and mixed with the first wine ($340/bottle). An absolute faux pas and generally corrected by bringing another bottle with fresh glasses. (a) the server explained that he only poured per Somme’s instructions then (b) we were told they would only deduct $100 from our bill. Most disappointed with the resolution as we didn’t find that it made things right but we didn’t want to spoil the time by disputing with the staff. We believe staff were simply following the rules that were provided without much understanding or latitude to do better. Just unfortunate as there were a couple of items that could’ve made the whole experience on the level of what is normally expected of a dining experience that Merriman’s sets to achieve. They missed the mark in a big way for us tonight.More

Had our anniversary dinner at Merriman's. This is suppose to be Maui's Fine dining. The food was decent, but lacking in creativity and was nothing special. The worst part was the atmosphere. Fine dining is as much about the ambiance as the food, and this...was a major #fail. Given COVID the restaurant is doing a lot more seating on the patio, which is smart, but we were seated in a dirty, brightly lit white tent off to the side of the property that had the ambiance of a high school cafeteria. When we asked for another table outside, were told that none were available. Honestly, we should have just left at this point, sorry we stayed, especially given the $300 price tag. The are so many better options on the island, skip this one.More

We stay at our condo next door several times a year and Merriman's is always on our shortlist of places to eat. You can count on the service to be personable and skilled, and you will never be disappointed with the food. The steak is...incredible, as good or maybe even better than the seafood dishes, if that's possible. This stay gave us our first glance on how the crew handles the changes due to Covid and I compliment them all. If anything, you can tell that they were getting weary of speaking about the pandemic, though they did so professionally. If we could, we'd buy a seat out on the point to keep as ours forever. Underwhelmed!! Sadly this meal is about location and…that’s about it because everything else was underwhelming for the price. The flavors and service were definitely lacking in so many ways. Even the mai tai they are “known for” was another sad version of the sugary drink....Save yourself a couple hundred bucks and go elsewhere.More

We had a truly remarkable experience at Merrimans! We had a patio table during sunset and the view and ambiance is extraordinary. Cocktails, wine, and appetizers were superb. I had the scallop entree and they were amazing. Our waiter Marco, was very helpful and engaging....Everything is top notch!More

Impeccable. Although a full menu would have been preferred to the current Covid era prixe fixe menu that is literally my only criticism. Views, service, drinks and food were all top notch. I’ll start saving my pennies to afford a meal here again if we’re...fortunate enough to visit Maui in the future. Almost canceled our reservations and DW talked me out of it, so glad she did. If you’re on the fence - go for it. It is absolutely worth it.More

We celebrated our 20th anniversary at Merriman's and it was absolutely delicious. There is a bit of work to secure a reservation but it's definitely worth it. A beautiful view, extremely attentive staff, valet parking and all very welcoming. We were a little concerned with...the prix fixe menu but it was wonderful. We had the shrimp and pork chow fun noodles and they were amazing. We had the shrimp and scallops and the filet and every bite amazing. Dessert was a special chocolate cake with ice cream. The drinks were incredible and very different options available. The view is amazing overlooking the cliff side right on the ocean and you can hear the waves during dinner. As far as reservations they are very clear how it works and we followed their direction and while we would have liked an earlier time, it worked fine. Read the website - follow along and you will be fine. Highly recommend Merriman's and it was the most delicious meal of our trip and we ate at a lot of very highly rated restaurants.More
