My family and I visited this establishment whilst on holiday in nearby Porthmadoc and were blown away by it. The food was hot, well cooked and ample enough to satisfy the most demanding of appetites. Everything is freshly cooked so a slight wait is to be expected but the quality of the food more than makes up for any delay.
The staff are polite, friendly and helpful providing a warm, genuine welcome and prompt efficient service.
Now to the view...The Sea View is exactly that, it looks out onto the beach and wonderful mountains of North Wales, sounds like heaven? It is, but dont take my word for it, go and visit.
Ps they even accept very well behaved pooches, if not there is ample seating outside.

Booked a few days ago as it’s not open every night due to staffing shortage. Family of five ( teenage children)
Good range of meals on menu. Husband had linguine with halloumi bites side order, kids had pizza and chips. I am trying to stick to a non spicy low fat diet due to recent medical issue and it wasn’t so easy to choose - no spaghetti Bol or salads for example. I opted for chicken burger which was delicious but was fried in batter so …. I asked for salad rather than chips.
Food was delicious apart from the chips which were a bit soggy and thick.
We had two puddings which we shared. The Eton mess was lovely!
Also had tea for two and five soft drinks ( you can have alcohol)
Cost £95.
They boxed up uneaten pizza.
Oh also the view is beautiful
Staff were friendly and efficient. Considering the kitchen was in the building next door we had all meals arrive together.
If they could add a couple of healthy options I’d give it five stars.

Takeaway only at the moment (with possibly a couple of outdoor tables).
We had a takeaway coffee, a lemonade and a couple of very nice cakes (one gluten free) and took them across the road to a bench overlooking the beach.
Perfect in the sunshine. Hopefully we can come back soon enjoy something more substantial on the premises.

Hi,
First time at the Cafe - (never in a million years a bistro)
Nice setting, however, unfortunately left with a feeling of very poor value for money.
As a family of four out for lunch, we opted for the large portion of squid rings as a sharing starter, however, at a little under £9 we were a little disappointed having only received 5 pieces on the plate - (I’m glad that I didn’t order the regular portion!). To follow were Two over cooked / dry chicken burgers, one sweet chicken wrap and a cheese and onion sandwich, accompanied by one drink each - Total bill £60.
I’m not sure what’s happened within the UK over the last decade, but the general quality of food, service and value for money has been on a serious decline. I can honestly say that I cannot remember the last time I left an establishment with a wanting to return.

As this was a birthday lunch for my mother in law, Sea View had put up a birthday banner and ballons to help with the celebrations.
Service was very friendly and efficient. Food was good and pleased everyone.
Well recomended if you're nearby (and IF you can get a table!)

Fantastic breakfast in a box to take away. Sharp knives and forks made of wood so they cut the bacon not those awful chippy forks! Friendly staff. Prices fairly high but reflected in the high quality. Gave 4 stars as the queuing system was unclear and the lack of clarity about how to order given on the website so we were waiting to order when we couldn’t actually place the order till the following day.
Obviously this is Covid related. The food and hot drinks were faultless!

We spent two glorious weeks in Borth y Gest , the Sea View Cafe is a great place for a family . Whether you are just wanting a drink , ice cream or a meal . The Steak was the best thing me and my two sons have ever tasted , cooked to perfection , better than the steaks we have ever had at Miller and Carter . The wife really enjoyed her meals also , infact on the last night there they cooked her something special she had asked for previously which made her feel special . The service was great even though at times they were run ragged with it being so busy and only the two of them . Marie and Rebecca you were fantastic to my family thankyou very much , you helped to make our holiday special . As to others I have read review wise , saying the service was poor obviously you have no patience or understanding of hard these people work . Thankyou Chef , Marie ,Rebecca and the owners , a place we will never forget . The Mitchell Family , PS also a great place to take your four legged friends .

We visited for coffee and cake on a rainy afternoon around 4pm The indoor seating area was being closed down for cleaning, but we were able to sit on the terrace, under the awning. The coffee and cake were lovely. I enjoyed my hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows very much. There is only limited outdoor seating, so you may not get seated here, depending on how busy it is.

Borth y Gest, lying in the shadow of Moel y Gest, was the original harbour in the area, until William Alexander Maddox built Port Madoc, which became Porthmadog.
Seaview is in a prime spot to watch boats and jetskis coming and going into Porthmadog, or simply lying at rest in the bay.
Booking is highly advisable, especially peak season, such is its popularity. Serving drinks, snacks and light meals, good food, pleasant staff and value for money make this a very popular spot. If you're around Christmas morning they serve sherry and mince pies as well.
As a popular family venue, this is more of a "generic review", but if you want a recommendation, the halloumi skewers would be my tip!

We’ve used this lovely little cafe several times during our week staying at Borth y Gest and can’t recommend it highly enough!
They sell lovely cake, ice creams and coffee and in the evenings they currently have a takeaway menu.
We’ve had 3 takeaway meals in a week and they are nothing short of excellent. Nothing could be improved and the chips are to die for!
They are also lovely, kind people who helped me get my bank card back when I dropped it and someone handed it in- so big thanks for that.
We will be back!

Great views, great food, friendly staff and very reasonable prices - what more could you want! My first visit, we moved to live about 30 miles down the coast in 2021, but pop up to BYG quite often and will be definitely be calling in again. I was on my own yesterday and was made so welcome. Crab cakes with guacamole, and a side of the quite fabulous hash brown bites with bourbon dipping sauce was just the ticket, along with a glass of wine then coffee. Couldn't fault a thing. Although in sunshine it must be even more delightful! I shall return - with husband!

Called hear intending just to have coffee and cake, but menu for lunch was too tempting. Two of us had a lovely home made stew with crispy bread which was very tasty. The other two had panninis which had delicious fillings.
The coffees were good, the view gorgeous and staff very friendly. What more could you ask for.
Will be back again as the cakes looked very tempting, but too full to try on this visit.

Had a tasty meal. All food was great. The staff unfortunately were disorganised. No one cleared the table in time for 2nd round of drinks so after the food the tables were cluttered. Whilst we sat in the beautiful surroundings the staff had ample opportunity to clear down our table, this wasn't done and we were about to order deserts (Just ice creams) another small group arrived and we were quickly ushered away saying that the 1630 table was arriving. We were a table of 6 who had paid way over £100 for our meals. And we were rushed out and asked to eat our deserts over the road. We wouldn't have minded too much but it was the manner at which it was handled. I'm sure they will be more organised in the future and the food was nice.

Hi thank you for spending the time to review.
We are so sorry you felt that it was disorganised during your visit.
I can only apologise for this.
As many businesses are at the moment, we are exceptionally short staffed and working in this heat as I’m sure you can imagine is unbearable.
I’m sorry you felt you were rushed off your table due to another table booking due to arrive- we are so limited on seating due to not being able to seat inside due to the heat.
Once again I apologise and when you are next in the village if you ask to speak to the manager we can have a chat further about this.

A really good wide choice of breakfast.Good value for money, unlimited tea, coffee and fruit juice with the traditional full breakfast options. We chose to sit on the terrace which gives fantastic view over the bay. If you want a take away the premises adjacent is part of the same company. The service is excellent and friendly. Lunch and Evening meals also available.

Stunning location and friendly attentive staff. Really tasty food (scrambled eggs and salmon and a breakfast wrap) served quickly.
We visited in November and sat outside making the most of the sheltered bay.
My only small request would be for some gluten free bread even if it’s kept frozen and the food took a little longer.
Still definitely worth a visit
