We sat by the fire and enjoyed a lovely view of the pier and the beach, drank Guinness and hot whiskeys and settled in for a few hours craic and cosiness on Saturday afternoon. It was idyllic.

ate here as stayed in Portsalon on holiday recently. Absolutely gorgeous food and if you like your seafood you will be spoilt. We had a lovely steak and some home made beef bourgignon, the other table however ordered oysters reputedly to be the best in Ireland and they looked awesome. Pudding was also a treat. Nice staff, beautiful décor escellent... More

Firstly I am a self-confessed foodie so I know I am fussy! We dined in Sarahs (the only restaurant in Portsalon other than the golf club) on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and although what was had was very nice the menu was very limited with no seafood which was really disappointing and baffling really given the location. The waitress... More

My husband and I had dinner here tonight and couldn't fault it. Service was polite and non intrusive. I had Mulroy mussels to start followed by Donegal rainbow trout with caper and walnut butter from the specials board and my husband had had the rib eye steak which was delicious. All washed down with a really good Pinot Noir it... More

Love this place. I try and get over to Ireland once a year, and always go to Sarah's. The food is always outstanding. One my last visit, was lucky enough to try local oysters. They were amazing!! The sea bass was cooked perfectly and the dessert was great too. They have a great selection of wines and ales (some of... More

We may only go once or twice a year when visiting family , but this really is one of my most favourite places. The menus have changed a little over the years, but the foods just as good. Shame you can not get a pint of guinness from the bar next door anymore, but a good selection of local bottle... More

Went to this restaurant last Sunday 19th for dinner and it was really good. Selection of bread was good. Haven't had the description ( not important tho,but would have been nice) Fish and chips was surprisingly nice .Battered fish really light and crispy ,chips cooked perfectly, could taste that it was freshly cooked and not just reheated. My pasta was... More

I was in a party of 15 for a late lunch on Sunday which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The menu provided plenty of choice and the baskets of soda bread went down a treat with more offered if wanted. I opted for the hummus, feta and beetroot salad and the combination of flavours was amazing. For the main course I had... More

Holidaying in Portsalon and other than the Golf Club, this seems to be the only restaurant in walking distance from the harbour. But just because it has a monopoly it doesn't mean that standards are low, far from it. We dined here twice, my wife and I and two very good friends. We booked early and asked for window seats... A party of us ate here and enjoyed the location and food. The staff were friendly and we had a nice night. Watched the sun set over the harbour which was beautiful. The restaurant didn't offer free wifi which was a shame as most places do these days. That was my only complaint though, nothing to do with the food... More
